Future:

"Life often feels like a great pile of obligations, frustrations, and disappointments. But the Lord is there, always the same, His arms still outstretched. When we feel overwhelmed, we have to remember the peace He has spoken to us on previous occasions. His peace brings comfort and strength; the world cannot give that to us."

Many People veer from the path "because their hearts are set so much on the things of this world." "God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round."

"When you push against the boundaries of experience into the twilight of the unknown, the Lord will strengthen you. The beauty of your eternal soul will begin to unfold."

“When one door closes another door opens, but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”

"A Great and Dreadful Day"

"Yes, we live in an exciting and wonderful time.

"This wonderful time in which we live is also filled with peril. You live in challenging times where many temptations and dangers await you. You have already been exposed to some of
those temptations and dangers. . . .

"It is not surprising that in the face of tremendous evil and temptation the Lord does not leave us to find our way on our own. . . . You have received the gift of the Holy Ghost to direct and inspire you. You have the scriptures, parents, Church leaders and teachers. You also have the words of the prophets, seers, and revelators who live in our day. There is so much guidance and direction available that you won't make major mistakes in your life unless you consciously ignore the guidance you receive."

“Most of the successful people I've known are the ones who do more listening than talking.”

"You men who hold the priesthood of God, honor your wives. Respect them. They are the mothers of your children. When all is said and done, when you have lived your lives and go on to eternity, you will not take five cents of wealth that you have accumulated, not five cents. There is only one thing that you can take with you, and that is your eternal soul and the love and companionship of your husband or your wife. Live worthy of it."

“The difference between try and triumph is a little umph. "

In our media-driven culture we are being bombarded everyday with messages of contradicting values. On television, in movies, print publications and online men and women of faith are being told they're never enough — in the workplace or at home, as spouses or as parents.

And our children are even bigger targets. TV, films and video games offer gratuitous violence, teen programs with provocative clothes and situations, pop-ups on the Web… they're all fighting against the virtues and values you hold most dear and strive to instill in your kids.

"In this life we have to make many choices. Some are very important
choices. Some are not. Many of our choices are between good and evil. The
choices we make, however, determine to a large extent our happiness or our
unhappiness, because we have to live with the consequences of our
choices."

“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.”

"As God's "kids", we are all Brothers and sisters. We hold up like a banner the proclamation to the world on the family and as we live and teach the gospel of Jesus
Christ, we will fulfill the measure of our creation here on earth. We will find peace and happiness here and in the world to come. We should not need a hurricane or other crisis to remind us of what matters most. The gospel and the Lord's plan of happiness and salvation should remind us. What matters most is what lasts longest . . . and our families are for eternity."

"We do live in turbulent times. Often the future is unknown;
therefore, it behooves us to prepare for uncertainties. Statistics reveal that at some time, for a variety of reasons, you may find yourself in the role of financial provider. I urge you to pursue your education and learn
marketable skills so that, should such a situation arise, you are prepared to provide."

“Nothing happens unless first a dream."

"Yes, life is good if we live in such a way to make it so. Believing, desiring, deciding, and choosing correctly are the simple actions that define an increase in happiness and an increase in the inner assurance that transcends this life."

"How portentous are the words of revelation found in the scriptures concerning the calamities that should befall.

"How interesting are descriptions of the tsunami and the recent hurricanes in terms of the language of the revelations.

"Man's inhumanity to man expressed in past and present
conflict has and continues to bring unspeakable suffering. . . .

"What we have experienced in the past was all foretold, and the
end is not yet. Just as there have been calamities in the past, we expect more in the future. . . .

"The Lord has said, 'If ye are
prepared ye shall not fear' (D&C 38:30)."
