My brother and sister, Donny and Marie Osmond, really hit the ‘nail on the head’ with this music video, ”The Good Life”.
Life’s greatest joys are found in the family. Strong family relationships require effort, but such effort brings great happiness in this life and throughout eternity. In our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness, a man and a woman can be sealed to one another for time and all eternity. Those who are sealed in the temple have the assurance that their relationship will continue forever if they are true to their covenants. They know that nothing, not even death, can permanently separate them.
The covenant of eternal marriage is necessary for exaltation. The Lord revealed through Joseph Smith: “In the celestial glory there are three heavens or degrees; and in order to obtain the highest, a man must enter into this order of the priesthood [meaning the new and everlasting covenant of marriage]; and if he does not, he cannot obtain it. He may enter into the other, but that is the end of his kingdom; he cannot have an increase” (D&C 131:1-4).
After receiving the sealing ordinance and making sacred covenants in the temple, a couple must continue in faithfulness in order to receive the blessings of eternal marriage and exaltation. The Lord said:
“If a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; . . . and if [they] abide in my covenant, . . . it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world” (D&C 132:19).
Those who are married should consider their union as their most cherished earthly relationship. A spouse is the only person other than the Lord whom we have been commanded to love with all our heart (see D&C 42:22).
Marriage, in its truest sense, is a partnership of equals, with neither person exercising dominion over the other, but with each encouraging, comforting, and helping the other.
Because marriage is such an important relationship in life, it needs and deserves time over less-important commitments. Couples can strengthen their marriage as they take time to talk together and to listen to one another, to be thoughtful and respectful, and to express tender feelings and affection often.
Marriage partners must be loyal to one another and faithful in their marriage covenants in thought, word, and deed. The Lord has said, “Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her and none else” (D&C 42:22). The phrase “none else” teaches that no person, activity, or possession should ever take precedence over the marriage relationship.
Married couples should stay away from anything that could lead to unfaithfulness in any way. Pornography, unwholesome fantasies, and flirtations will erode character and strike at the foundation of marriage.
Couples should work together to manage their finances and cooperate in establishing and following a budget. Wise money management and freedom from debt contribute to peace in the home.
Finally, couples must center their lives in the gospel of Jesus Christ. As couples help one another keep the covenants they have made, attend church and the temple together, study the scriptures together, and kneel together in prayer, God will guide them. Their companionship will sweeten through the years; their love will strengthen. Their appreciation for one another will grow.
Nathan Osmond films music video for patriotic ballad on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
By Dana Ferguson -| The Salt Lake Tribune
Nine flags waved over the desertlike landscape of the Bonneville Salt Flats this week, as Nathan Osmond tapped the return key on his laptop and sent pre-recorded melodies over the great expanse.
The country singer and his band proceeded to rock out, attempting not to trip over the uneven terrain.
Nathan Osmond and his band filmed scenes for Osmond’s new music video “Stars and Stripes” on Wednesday, June 27, on the Utah Salt Flats. The video is set to be released next week.
A hodgepodge crew of musicians and producers gathered on the Bonneville Salt Flats to film scenes for Osmond’s single “Stars and Stripes.” All the while, onlookers stopped at the rest stop just up the hill to check out what was going down below.
Band members pounded steel rods into the rough ground while videographers wrestled with their equipment. Filming began about an hour and a half later than expected Wednesday evening.
Osmond wrote the song to honor military families. “I’m just thinking what’s on my heart,” he said.
In other staged scenes, the video will feature Robert and Krista Iverson and their children. After hearing the country ballad at a recent concert, Krista Iverson volunteered to participate in filming the music video. “We heard it and we thought it really captured some of the experiences we’ve been through,” Iverson said.
Robert Iverson was awarded a Purple Heart after his tank was attacked in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003. The Marine officer said he appreciates the message of gratitude Osmond’s song sends to troops, veterans and military families.
“We traveled a lot of miles, we killed a lot of people, we went back to our camp and started all over again the next day,” Robert Iverson said. “It was really rough on us.”
The music video is one reminder of the sacrifices of soldiers serving overseas. “I really appreciate what [Osmond] is doing putting the military back on the nation’s conscience,” Iverson said. “So many paid the ultimate price. I’m honored to just be associated with those people.”
Families at home also face significant struggles, and in the music video Krista Iverson is pictured praying for her husband, awaiting his return.
Note: Nathan will be performing this song at “Stadium of Fire”on July 4th at BYU’s Lavelle Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah prior to Scotty McCreery and The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Celebration!
The Apostle Paul taught that “faith is the substance [assurance] of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11: 1).
Alma made a similar statement: “If ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true” (Alma 32: 21).
Faith is a principle of action and power. Whenever we work toward a worthy goal, we exercise faith. We show our hope for something that we cannot yet see.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
In order for faith to lead to salvation, it must be centered in the Lord Jesus Christ (see Acts 4: 10-12; Mosiah 3: 17; Moro. 7: 24-26; Articles of Faith 1: 4). We can exercise faith in Christ when we have an assurance that He exists, a correct idea of His character, and a knowledge that we are striving to live according to His will.
Having faith in Jesus Christ means relying completely on Him—trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. It includes believing His teachings. It means believing that even though we do not understand all things, He does. Because He has experienced all our pains, afflictions, and infirmities, He knows how to help us rise above our daily difficulties (see Alma 7: 11-12; D&C 122: 8). He has “overcome the world” (John 16: 33) and prepared the way for us to receive eternal life. He is always ready to help us as we remember His plea: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not” (D&C 6: 36).
“And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.”Ether 12: 27
On Christmas Day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
W offer our testimony of the reality of His matchless life and the infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice. None other has had so profound an influence upon all who have lived and will yet live upon the earth.
Jesus was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. ‘All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made’ (John 1: 3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He ‘went about doing good’ (Acts 10: 38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come.
“He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great atoning sacrifice.
He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary’s cross. He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift
in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth. We anxiously await His return to earth once again.
Before you open the gifts under the Christmas tree this year, may we all pause as families and give thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who not only makes Christmas possible, but gives eternal life for all.
You Never Know When You Might Need To Help Someone.
Watch this moving video “Sanctify Yourselves.” When a little league football player is struck by lightning, his 18-year-old assistant coach, Bryce Reynolds, was prepared to use his newly-conferred Melchizedek Priesthood authority to call upon the healing powers of heaven.
Where did Bryce get the power and the authority
to do this wonder?
It was from Jesus Christ Himself.
The Lord Jesus Christ Ordained His Twelve Apostles
with this wonder.
Jesus was Crucified and All of The Apostles were Killed.
Jesus was Resurrected and visited “His Sheep” or children in several other nations and it was recorded before He
ascended to heaven.
In 1820, Joseph Smith was 14 years old and with Faith, though lacking wisdom, he asked of God which Church he should join and he saw a vision.
God the Father and His Son Jesus Appeared To Joseph Smith.
15 May 1829, John the Baptist also Returned and gave Joseph Smith the Aaronic Priesthood.
Elijah the Prophet held the sealing power of the Melchizedek Priesthood and was the last prophet to do so before the time of Jesus Christ. He appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration with Moses and conferred the keys of the priesthood on Peter, James, andJohn (Matt. 17: 3).
On April 3, 1836, in the Kirtland (Ohio) Temple, Elijah the Prophet appeared again, with Moses and Apostles Peter, James, and John, who came from heaven and conferred the Melchizedek Priesthood and the keys thereof upon Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery
(D&C 27: 12-13; 128: 20).
As demonstrated by his miraculous deeds, the power of Elijah is the sealing power of the priesthood by which things bound or loosed on earth are bound or loosed in heaven.
Thus the keys of this power are once again operative on the earth and are used in performing all the ordinances of the gospel for the living and the dead.
This is done in The House of the Lord, His Temples.
Joseph Smith ordained others to both Priesthoods and it has been handed down over time to several other Prophets.
Our Living Prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson with Counsilors President Henry B. Eyring, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf who hold all of the Priesthood Keys.
They hold the Authority to Ordained, Baptize, Bless and Administer the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
New Members and Converts can become Members of The Church of Jesus Christ.
First, starting at the age of eight, which is the age of accountability, with Faith and Repentance
they are Baptized by emersion.
They then Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by one who has the Authority.
At the age of Twelve, Worthy Young Men are Ordained into the Aaronic Priesthood.
The can then begin their leadership as young
Aaronic Priesthood leaders.
At 18 years of age, a young man who is worthy is Ordained into the Melchizedek Priesthood and given leadership callings.
If they continue to be worthy, they can be called to serve as full time Missionaries and go wherever they are called to serve somewhere around the world to teach the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This is where that young man, Bryce Reynolds in the Video, got the authority to exercise his priesthood that helped save another’s life.
He knew he had the Priesthood authority.
… and so he used it!
His Authority Line goes back to Jesus Christ.
He holds the KEYS to the
Priesthood of God.
No one can just assume this Authority.
Based upon one’s worthiness, it MUST be given to him by one who has the Authority and the keys given to him that can be traced back to Jesus Christ. This ordination is done the same way that Jesus did by the laying on of hands.

All of this has been in preparation for the second coming of the Lord, as spoken of in Malachi 4: 5-6.
President Monson and the First Presidency of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
hold these keys today.
