We all have our free agency and God holds us accountable for the way we use it in thought and deed. "Kindness, compassion, and love are powerful instruments in strengthening us to carry heavy burdens imposed without any fault of our own and to do what we know to be right."

The Osmond Brothers Final Bow And Testimony

The U.K. Tour

the family

On this, Merrill Osmond’s Birthday, The Osmond Brothers take their final Bow and share their Testimony to their dear fans and friends in their United Kingdom’s Final Tour.

the familyI know that Wayne and I so wish that we could have been there to perform and say thank you to the most wonderful fans and friends any musical artiist could ever wish to have.

I, Alan Osmond, was the oldest of the group and had to leave the group a few years ago due to having Multiiiple Sclerosis.  Wayne Osmond, the second oldest of the group just recently had to leave the group due to health conditions.

We always said a word of prayer before each and every performance we did asking for the Lord’s blessings and for the Holy Spirit to touch those among the audience that they might feel our love and testimony through our music that we have for life, for family, and for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We know that Jesus Christ is The Way to everlasting happiness and that He has restored His Gospel here upon the earth with all the power and authority to bless us with everlasting life in the world and heavens to come.

We usually always end our shows with a musical testimony via a song that we love so much; a song we wrote for The Plan Album called, “Are You Up There”, and ending it with the classic song, “I Believe”.  These shows that we have done for about 55+ years have always started with a word of prayer backstage and usually ended with a song of gratitude and belief on stage.

the familyIn behalf of all of my brothers and sister Marie, myself and all of the Osmond families, may we say thank you for accepting us and our music, and especially for all of those tender words, hugs, kisses and eternal friendships that will never go away.  We love our fans and call them friends knowing that there is purpose in life.

We Osmonds are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are not ashamed of the fullness of His gospel.  We sing His name, we take upon ourselves His Name, and always remember Him and strive to keep His Commandments.

If you have felt that ‘Spirit’ and love in our concerts, our music, our TV and media moments, or wonder why we are the way we are . . . then we invite you to click this link and ask of those who respond to share with you “what it is that you felt” and then ask them any questions.  Ask them to explain and to give you answers to “the reason for the hope that is within us” Osmonds.  Or, if you see us, just ask us personally and we will share with you the glad message of Jesus Christ and His Plan of Life that includes The Way to return back to our Heavenly Parents and what is needed to be able to live in the highest mansions of Heaven with them for all eternity.

Sincerely with love,

Alan Osmond

Turn The Heart Of The Children To The Fathers

…Turn The Heart Of The Children To The Fathers

the family

Where did we come from?

Why are we here?

Where do we go after this life?

Through family history work, we can learn about our ancestors and increase our love for them. We can be inspired by their stories of courage and faith. We can pass that legacy on to our children.  All of the family history endeavors are directed to the need to form a “welding link—between the fathers and the children” (D&C 128: 18).

We are participants in Heavenly Father’s plan, and our eternal experience can be divided into three main parts:

  1. Premortal life,

  2. Mortal life,

  3. Life after death.

    the family

As we come to understand the plan, we find answers to questions asked by so many: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go after this life?

Premortal Life

Before we were born on the earth, we lived in the presence of our Heavenly Father as one of His spirit children. In this premortal existence, we attended a council with Heavenly Father’s other spirit children. At that council, Heavenly Father presented His great plan of happiness (see Abraham 3: 22-26).

In harmony with the plan of happiness, the premortal Jesus Christ, the Firstborn Son of the Father in the spirit, covenanted to be the Savior (see Moses 4: 2Abr. 3: 27). Those who followed Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were permitted to come to the earth to experience mortality and progress toward eternal life. Lucifer, another spirit son of God, rebelled against the plan and “sought to destroy the agency of man” (Moses 4: 3). He became Satan, and he and his followers were cast out of heaven and denied the privileges of receiving a physical body and experiencing mortality (see Moses 4: 4Abraham 3: 27-28).

Throughout our premortal lives, we developed our identity and increased our spiritual capabilities. Blessed with the gift of agency, we made important decisions, such as the decision to follow Heavenly Father’s plan. These decisions affected our life then and now. We grew in intelligence and learned to love the truth, and we prepared to come to the earth, where we could continue to progress.

Mortal Lifethe family

We are now experiencing mortal life. Our spirits are united with our bodies, giving us opportunities to grow and develop in ways that were not possible in premortal life. This part of our existence is a time of learning in which we can prove ourselves, choose to come unto Christ, and prepare to be worthy of eternal life. It is also a time when we can help others find the truth and gain a testimony of the plan of salvation.

Life after Death

When we die, our spirits will enter the spirit world and await the resurrection. At the time of the resurrection, our spirit and body will reunite, and we will be judged and received into a kingdom of glory. The glory we inherit will depend on the depth of our conversion and our obedience to the Lord’s commandments (see Kingdoms of Glory). It will depend on the manner in which we have “received the testimony of Jesus” (D&C 76: 51; see also D&C 76: 74, 79, 101).

Blessings through Knowledge of the Plan

the familyA testimony of the plan of salvation can give us hope and purpose as we wrestle with the challenges of life. We can find reassurance in the knowledge that we are children of God and that we lived in His presence before being born on the earth. We can find meaning in our present life, knowing that our actions during mortality influence our eternal destiny. With this knowledge, we can base important decisions on eternal truths rather than on the changing circumstances of life. We can continually improve our relationships with family members, rejoicing in the promise that our families can be eternal. We can find joy in our testimonies of the Atonement and the Lord’s commandments, ordinances, covenants, and doctrines, knowing that “he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his reward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come” (D&C 59: 23).

We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.

Isaiah’s Prophecy Of The “Mountain (Temple) Of The Lord” Is Fulfilled

By on Nov 07 in Blog tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | 1 Comment

Isaiah speaks directly to us!

the family

Many of us are personally blessed to see the fulfillment of this prophecy as we enter the Lord’s temples and are taught therin of “his ways” and walk in “his path”.

Isa. 2: 3 ) “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”

Isaiah’s prophecy of the “mountain of the

Lord” (Isa. 2: 1-5) is fulfilled as we build

temples throughout the world.

(“Mountain of the Lord” = House)

The Temple is the Lord’s house.

(There are hundreds of them all around the world.)

Isa. 2: 10-22 is one of the greatest prophecies recorded in the standard works of Christ’s second coming and his judgments on the proud.

Perhaps we, or our children or grandchildren, may witness these events as Jesus Christ comes again to the earth this time with great power and glory.

The Mountain (Temple Of The Lord
(Isa. 2: 1-5)

This prophecy speaks to us in our day.  The gathering of Israel, temples, and temple service.   We will “flow” upwards to the temple mountain, learn of God’s ways (in the temple), and walk in God’s paths (in the temple).  In additioin, temple service and worship (Isa. 2: 2-3) are directly connected to worldwide peace and prosperity (Isa. 2: 4); that is, temple attendance (Isa. 2: 2) results in peace (Isa. 2: 4), a desire to learn of God (Isa. 2: 3), and a willingness to walk in his light (Isa. 2: 5).

Micah presents the same prophecy in his writings (Micah 4: 1-3).

Joseph Smith summed up the connection between the gathering of Israel and temple service:

“The object of gathering the Jews, or the people of God in any age of the world . . . was to build unto the Lord a house whereby He could reveal unto His people the ordinances of His house and the glories of His kingdom, and teach the people
the way of salvation.”

the family.

He will teach us of his ways“… The Lord will teach us through revelation given through his prophets and apostles, through the scritures, and by way of personal revelation (Isa. 54: 13). Specifically, we will learn of God’s ways in his temple.

the familyIsaiah’s Address (Prayer) to Jehovah (Isa. 2: 6-9)

Therefore [O Lord] thou hast forsaken thy people
the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east,

and [hearken unto the] soothsayers like the Philistines,
and they [clasp hands] please themselves in the children of strangers. (Isa. 2: 6)

Their land also is full of silver and gold,
neither is there any end of their treasures;

Their land is also full of horses,
neither is there any end of their chariots: (Isa. 2: 7

Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands,
that which their own fingers have made: (Isa. 2: 8)
And the [ordinary] man boweth [not] down,
and the great man humbleth himself [not]: therefore forgive them not. (Isa. 2: 9)

NOTES AND COMMENTARY:

Isa. 2: 6 thou hast forsaken.  The Lord has forsaken members of the house of Israel because of their wicked condition (2:6-9).  The term forsaken has the sense of abandoning the house of Israel and leaving them without the Spirit of the Lord, revelation, and God’s word through his living prophets.

replenished … east.  To the Israelites, “east is the sacred direction.  Holy temples are oriented eastward . . . Jesus Christ enters his temples from the east (Ezek. 43: 1-2; see Exek. 10:19); and at the time of the Second Coming, the Lord will come from the east (JS-M 1: 26;  Matt. 24: 27;  Teachings, 287).” In Isa. 2: 5, the prophet Isaiah commands the house of Israel to “walk in the light of the Lord,” which comes from the east.  Yet the house of Israel attempted to be spiritually revitalized (replenished) through apostate, spurious sources from the east (such as the deities and religious systems of the heathen countries), which constituted mockery unto God.

soothsayers.  Individuals who pretend to prophesy or predict the future are soothsayers.  The law of Moses contained espress commands against the Israelites’ association with these false prophets (Lev. 18: 26; Deut. 18: 10-12).

Philistines.  This was a group of people who occupied southwest Palestine and who often warred against Israel.

clasp hands . . . children of strangers.  One meaning of this phrase is  to participate and make covenants in apostate temple systems whith those who are not affiliated with the true Israelite temple.  The Hebrew word for strangers has reference to characters who are “foreign” or “alien” to the house of Israel.  A command from the law of Moses warned the Israelites, “Thou shat make no covenant with them [strangers; such as the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebosites], nor with their gods”  (Ex. 23: 32).  The phrase also refers to God’s command that Israelites not intermarry with those who do not belong to covenant Israel (Deut. 7: 1-4).

2:7 silver/gold/treasures.  When they sought these riches, which are symbolic of worldly materialism (Rev. 17: 4; Rev. 18: 16; 1 Ne. 13: 7-8), ancient Israel broke the law of Moses, for they were commanded, “neither shall [you] greatly multiply to [your]self silver and gold”  (Deut. 17: 17). The Lord’s people are ever commanded to seek him rather than the riches of this world.

horses/chariots.  These represent warfare and militar might Isa. 31: 3; Job 39:19-24; Jer. 46: 4; Ezek. 38: 4).

2:8 idols.  This term refers both to heathen deities constructed of wood or stone and to more abstract things that men become excessively devoted to, including worldly wealth, the honor of men, and things of the flesh.  Isaiah speaks of idols in Isa. 2: 8, 18, 20; Isa. 10: 10-11; Isa. 19: 1, 3; and Isa. 31: 7.  The law of Moses speaks clearly against the creation and worship of idols (Ex. 20: 3-4).

2:9 ordinary/great man.  Both ordinary people, or commoners, and those who have achieved worldly status and positions are guilty of pride.

forgive them not.  Isaiah, whose testimony lists the sins of Israel, stands as a witness against the house of Israel in Jehovah’s courtroom (Isa. 1: 2-5; Isa. 2: 4).  Inasmuch as the children of Israel saturate their lives with sins (as Isaiah suggests in the terms replenish and full, used several times) and fail to hearken to the voice of man prophets by repenting and turning to God, Isaiah can deliver his plea (prayer) before the Lord.

Forgive them not.
Isaiah has testified against Israel, and now, according to the custom of the court, the judge will deliver his sentence.  In this case, the judgment will be delivered by Jesus Christ during the “day of Jehovah” (Isa. 2: 12).

(‘Understanding Isaiah’ – Donald w. Perry – JW N Perry – Tina M Peterson)

“For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. And now, behold, I say unto you: This is the plan of salvation unto all men, through the blood of mine Only Begotten, who shall come in the meridian of time.” Moses 6: 52-62

Freedom To Choose (AGENCY) Is An Eternal Principle

By on Oct 28 in Blog tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | Comments Off

Agency Is an Eternal Principlethe family

  • If someone asked you why it is important to have agency, what would you say?

“Thou mayest choose for thyself, for it is given unto thee” (Moses 3:17).

God has told us through His prophets that we are free to choose between good and evil.the family We may choose liberty and eternal life by following Jesus Christ. We are also free to choose captivity and death by following Satan. (See 2 Nephi 2:27.) The right to choose between good and evil and to act for ourselves is called agency.

In our premortal life we had moral agency. One purpose of earth life is to show what choices we will make (see 2 Nephi 2:15–16). If we were forced to choose the right, we would not be able to show what we would choose for ourselves. Also, we are happier doing things when we have made our own choices.the family

Agency was one of the principal issues to arise in the premortal Council in Heaven. It was one of the main causes of the conflict between the followers of Christ and the followers of Satan. Satan said, “Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor” (Moses 4:1). In saying this, he “rebelled against [God] and sought to destroy the agency of man” (Moses 4:3). His offer was rejected, and he was cast out of heaven with his followers (see D&C 29:36–37).

Agency Is a Necessary Part of the Plan of Salvation

the familyAgency makes our life on earth a period of testing. When planning the mortal creation of His children, God said, “We will prove [test] them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them” (Abraham 3:25). Without the gift of agency, we would have been unable to show our Heavenly Father whether we would do all that He commanded us. Because we are able to choose, we are responsible for our actions (see Helaman 14:30–31).

the familyWhen we choose to live according to God’s plan for us, our agency is strengthened. Right choices increase our power to make more right choices.

As we obey each of our Father’s commandments, we grow in wisdom and strength of character. Our faith increases. We find it easier to make right choices.

We began to make choices as spirit children in our Heavenly Father’s presence. Our choices there made us worthy to come to earth. Our Heavenly Father wants us to grow in faith, power, knowledge, wisdom, and all other good things. If we keep His commandments and make right choices, we will learn and understand. We will become like Him. (See D&C 93:28.)the family

  • How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Agency Requires That There Be a Choice

  • Why is opposition necessary?

We cannot choose righteousness unless the opposites of good and evil are placed before us. the familyLehi, a great Book of Mormon prophet, told his son Jacob that in order to bring about the eternal purposes of God, there must be “an opposition in all things. If not so, … righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad” (2 Nephi 2:11).

God allows Satan to oppose the good. God said of Satan:

“I caused that he should be cast down;

“And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice” (Moses 4:3–4).

Satan does all he can to destroy God’s work. He seeks “the misery of all mankind. … He seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself” (2 Nephi 2:18, 27). He does not love us. He does not want any good thing for us (see Moroni 7:17). He does not want us to be happy. He wants to make us his slaves. He uses many disguises to enslave us.

When we follow the temptations of Satan, we limit our choices. The following example suggests how this works. Imagine seeing a sign on the seashore that reads:

the family

“Danger—whirlpool. No swimming allowed here.” We might think that is a restriction. But is it? We still have many choices. We are free to swim somewhere else. We are free to walk along the beach and pick up seashells. We are free to watch the sunset. We are free to go home. We are also free to ignore the sign and swim in the dangerous place. the familyBut once the whirlpool has us in its grasp and we are pulled under, we have very few choices. We can try to escape, or we can call for help, but we may drown.

Even though we are free to choose our course of action, we are not free to choose the consequences of our actions. The the familyconsequences, whether good or bad, follow as a natural result of any choice we make (see Galatians 6:7Revelation 22:12).

Heavenly Father has told us how to escape the captivity of Satan. We must watch and pray always, asking God to help us withstand the temptations of Satan (see 3 Nephi 18:15). Our Heavenly Father will not allow us to be tempted beyond our power to resist (see 1 Corinthians 10:13Alma 13:28).the family

God’s commandments direct us away from danger and toward eternal life. By choosing wisely, we will gain exaltation, progress eternally, and enjoy perfect happiness (see 2 Nephi 2:27–28).

the family

“Now, repentance could not come unto men except there were a punishment, which also was eternal as the life of the soul should be, affixed oppositeto the plan of happiness, which was as eternal also as the life of the soul.” Alma 42: 16

The Plan Album Written In 1973 Was About Our Day Today!

By on Sep 06 in Blog tagged , , , , , , , , | 16 Comments

What is The Plan? The Plan of Life? The Plan of Salvation?
The Plan of Mercy?  The Plan of Everlasting Happiness?

the family

In 1973, my brothers and I came out with a concept album which we wrote about The Plan of Life.  It did not happen easily though.  We felt great oposition by a darker force that tried to stop us several times.  We would get discouraged and had to cast those feelings out.  We were told not to release such an album.  We even had the album in final conception in writing when our hotel caught fire and the only notes we had got burned up in Memphis, Tennessee.

My brothers and I wanted to say something important and share our views just like the Beatles did with their “Sergeant Peppers Album”.  There were other groups that did the same. This would be our original compositions and performance of some songs about The Plan of Life.  We started over and re-wrote the album.  Released it in a Blank cover at California KHJ’s rock station’s request because their listening audience wouldn’t believe it was us, and we even sought the blessings of our Prophet President Lee and the Twelve Apostles after it was released and received their blessings.  It was our most fulfilling and probably the most loved album by our fans.

This video was shot at one of our concerts featuring some of the songs.

About The Plan

I am so very pleased that my favorite album that we recorded, The Plan, after 28 years, is going to be released by the middle of this month. Many of you may remember some of the situations that we as a group faced with this “rock opera” effort to express our feelings about The Plan of LIFE! The Beatles had their “Sergeant Peppers” album, and other groups had theirs with thought provoking ideas. The Plan was ours. Having released our biggest hit single, Crazy Horses, with an attempt to leave something musically to our industry and to the world as musicians, we expressed in lyrics and music the importance of stopping air pollution. It was one of the very first anti pollution songs ever written. We likened the words “Crazy Horses” to the horsepower of engines and the smoke they created. The Plan was our way to creatively share our thoughts and feelings about who we are, why we are here, and where we are going. We expressed important principles that we believed with a cue to our listeners to “don’t take it too easy”. . . that there was something here that we wanted them to think about and know. It was quite a difficult task without seeming “preachy” which we did not want to do.

We worked for over a year or so putting together our notes, music, and ideas for this project. They were all in a special notebook that I carried with me on tour. One afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee, we checked into our hotel rooms. Security was loose and there were people running all over the hotel. Our rooms were up on a high floor and the fire escape doors were locked to keep people from coming up onto our floor. Security had placed in Wayne’s and my room many wrapped boxes and gifts for our family from our fans and others. There was so much commotion and confusion that my Father suggested that we as a family have lunch together in their hotel suite. We did.

Half way through our meal, we smelled smoke. We opened the door and saw smoke in the hall . . . and it was increasing very fast. We yelled FIRE and tried to exit the fire exit down the stairs . . . but couldn’t as the door was locked. John Rosenberg, our trumpet player who was a black belt, flew towards the door with a sidekick, and managed to knock the door open. We hurried down the stairs into the crowded lobby, which was now filled with firemen and many hotel guests. We couldn’t wait to see what happened, as we had to depart for our concert show in our touring bus. We had left our costumes in our hotel rooms but had another set under the bus that was needing to be cleaned but which had to be worn again for the show.

After the show was over, we were in a very big hurry to get back to the hotel and see what had happened, what caused the fire, and where our personal stuff was. As we entered the lobby, we were escorted by hotel management to see all of our personal belongings in a big pile on the floor in the main lobby. People we didn’t even know were going through it and we were taking certain items unrestricted. I saw my bible and other scriptures, my teeth retainers, and other personal items. I looked and looked and in a frantic conclusion I panicked because I did not see my notebook of The Plan. I quickly asked if we had anything else left in our rooms. They informed me that Wayne’s and my room where all those unopened packages were stored was where the fire seemed to be. Our costumes were destroyed; some of our musical instruments, and The Plan was gone!

We had “stepped away” from the music of The Plan” as we did our summer tour. We were still working on some new creative works but could only save and remember a few. We became very determined that this effort must be completed and that no-one would stop us. . . so we started at it again to create and compose the works that many now know as The Plan.

The Plan – More! By Alan Osmond

Now that we brothers had become re-dedicated to the writing and recording of the album project, The Plan, the Brothers became VERY close to one other! We probably haven’t been as close as we were then. There seemed to be a more spiritual surrounding when we were with each other for this purpose, less contention, and a longing to get together and create with a unified effort the receiving of inspiration and “special” creativity for this our “rock opera”. I say “special” because we have all written songs together before. But, it seemed that there was a humble and directed way that we received these moments of inspiration with each song. There were some songs that we struggled with to get the exact words or music. I remember that we were at a photo session in Yosemite National Park in California and Wayne, Merrill and I (along with our Mother) were sitting in the car while individual Osmonds got their pictures taken. We were searching for all the words that impressed us that ended with the letters “tion” for a song that was evolving called “The Last Days”. With other songs and times, the creative parts came really fast like when we wrote “One Way Ticket to Anywhere”. Jay got on those drums of his and we rolled it out in a hurry. There was a song that took me many, many hours. It was called “Are You Up There”. I was in my bed in California late one evening having read scriptures, prayed, and pondered for a great amount of time as to what it was that was in my bosom that I NEEDED to “say”. I could feel it as though it were a physical object inside of me trying to get out. I would stare at the piano keys that were located at the foot of my bed. I was wide-awake but totally still and quiet for around 4+ hours. At about 2 or three o’clock A.M., something happened. It was an emotional experience as I asked myself . . . “What are you trying to say?” “What is it?” It was like a light turned on . . . and got brighter. Here I was sitting up in bed with my pencil and pad of paper in hand and I started to write. Not only did I write lyrics to an inspired song but also, as I looked at the piano keys, I could see what the music cords and melody were to be. I hardly ever went back to check what I had written or made changes! When I finished I re-read the song and started to cry. I will NEVER forget that experience as long as I live! Someone was helping me. I prayed to my Heavenly Father giving Him thanks as I knew that I had been inspired from another source, a very, very good source, for I could NOT have written these words or music myself. I could hardly sleep the rest of the night. I would lie there for the next few hours and re-collect my experience and thoughts. I wanted morning to come very badly so I could share this experience and song with my Brothers!

Merrill’s comments regarding The Plan

In writing the Plan Album with my brothers, I can say without a doubt that a divine blessing was granted. The spirit that radiated during the writing sessions was strong. The personal revelation, if you will, intensified as the work and continued even after the master draft was destroyed by a fire in Memphis, Tennessee. The desire and determination to complete the Plan was ever present. Each song has a specific meaning that is told in a parable like form…designed to tell a connecting story about the plan of life. I hope and pray that those who desire to know our hearts and testimonies will listen with spiritual ears, and hear with unconditional hearts. The Plan is our gift to those we have loved for eons of time.

Wayne’s comments regarding The Plan

Being involved with writing the Plan album with my brothers was one of the most fulfilling projects I’ve ever been involved with…attempting to encapsulate the most powerful message that could ever be wrought into a presentation of a few songs was both challenging and delightful…….

The Plan Lyrics

I have also included the “vignettes” or short snippets of song that come between the pieces on Side One. The lyrics to these “vignettes” are not included on the album’s printed lyrics. Many thanks go to Rick, who passed these on to me and reminded me that to leave these little vignettes out takes away from the overall fabric of the album . ~Polly Weifenbach, Lyrics Editor, Backstage Discography

This piece does have two lines sung: “Let me take care of you, and keep an eye on you…” and “Gonna tame ya, make ya mind…” The first line sung by Alan, the second by Merrill.

Traffic In My Mind

I got traffic in my mind, yeah.
Don’t know which road to follow.
I got traffic in my mind, yeah.
I’m all alone flyin’ solo.
I got questions lookin’ at me,
answers tryin’ to find me.
Everybody telling me what they don’t know.
I got traffic in my mind, yeah.
Don’t know which road to follow.
I see blind men leading blind men,
and telling us how to make it.
I get better answers watching
some little kid trying to fake it.
So tell me who am I?
Why am I here?
Where in heaven’s name am I goin’?
I got traffic in my mind, yeah.
Don’t know which road to follow.
So tell me who am I?
Why am I here?
Where in heaven’s name am I goin’?
I got traffic in my mind, yeah.
Don’t know which road to follow.
Which road should I follow?
Don’t know which road to follow.

Vignette: Don’t Take It Too Easy

Don’t take it too easy…
Don’t take it too easy…
Gonna take you for a ride.
Don’t take it too easy…
A place where nothin’ hides…
Don’t take it too easy…
C’mon and step inside…
Don’t take it too easy…
Gonna take you for a ride…
Don’t take it too easy…
Gonna take you for a ride…
Don’t take it too easy…(fade)

Before The Beginning

Before the beginning, we were living
oh so far away from here.
And we called it home, but didn’t stay.
We knew that we could leave one day
and cry.
Before the beginning, we were willing
to lay aside who we had been.
And take a chance to slip away,
or make it back to home one day.
What for?
Ever since we came to be,
with the plan we learned to see.
We alone would guide our destiny.
In the beginning, we’d be living
as we would be, He once was.
To look at Him, to look at me
and think someday like Him I’ll be.
What more?
Ever since we came to be,
with the plan we learned to see.
We control infinity.
What more?
What more?

Vignette: It’s All Up To You
We are what we were and we’ll be what we do.
We’re all on our own, yes it’s all up to you.
To learn what is false and to do what is true
is what you’ve always wanted to do.

Movie Man

Why did you do it,
you should not make your mother cry.
I’d say you blew it.
Yes, he gave you one more try.
Yet you laugh and you smile,
try to run away.
Don’t you know what you do
you might regret someday?
‘Cause there’s one who has eyes
on your evil ways.
The movie man.
Why did you do it,
you’re in for a big surprise.
(Oh, I never knew it!)
But honey, there’s no tellin’ lies.
You’re in living color,
it’s your picture show.
Even what your thinking
everyone will know.
That’s the day you’ll have to take the stand.
The movie man.
You’re in living color,
it’s your picture show.
Even what you’re thinking
everyone will know.
That’s the day you’ll have to take the stand.
The movie man.

Vignette: I’m Sorry

Please don’t let me see you cry.
Let me say I’m sorry…
so sorry…
oh, yes I’m sorry…

Let Me In

Lovin’ you could be so easy,
lovin’ you could make me warm.
Ever since the day I left you,
I try, but I just can’t get you
out of my mind.
Thought that I could do without you,
thought I had to look around.
But now that I know I need you,
and promise that I’ll never leave you,
won’t you please…
Let me in,
let me in your arms again.
Let me give my love to you once more.
Let me love you, let me love you.
Take me in,
take me in your arms to stay,
and I’ll never go away again.
‘Cause I love you, ’cause I love you.
I’ll never be the same without you,
if I have to say goodbye.
I have no right to ask you,
but if you can, won’t you try to
love me?
(Won’t you try to love me)
Help me?
(I need you so badly)
And let (and let me)…
Let me in,
let me in your arms again.
Let me give my love to you once more.
Oh, ’cause I love you, ’cause I love you.
Oh, take me in,
take me in your arms to stay
and I’ll never go away again.
Oh, ’cause I love you, ’cause I love you.
Oh, let me in
let me in your arms again.
Let me give my love to you once more.
Oh, let me love you, let me love you.
Take me in,
take me in your arms to stay
and I’ll never go away—

One Way Ticket To Anywhere

Hey, hang on, just a little longer.
Hey, come on, be a little stronger.
You can do it, do it, yeah.
Do it, do it yeah.
Do it, do it, yeah.
Yeah.
We’re on a one way ticket to anywhere,
there’s no place we can’t go.
A one way ticket to anywhere
so hold on, baby, don’t let go, no, no.
Hey, you there, drownin’ in the ocean.
Hey, you there, put yourself in motion.
You can do it, do it, yeah.
Do it, do it yeah.
Do it, do it yeah.
Yeah.
You can do it, do it yeah.
Do it, do it yeah.
Do it, do it yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
We’re on a one way ticket to anywhere,
there’s no place we can’t go.
A one way ticket to anywhere,
so hold on, baby, don’t let go, no, no–

Are You Up There?

It could all end tomorrow,
and where would I be?
Does life go on
or will it be the end of me?
Seems a bit unfair
to think that all I’ve learned and done
belongs to no one.
Why should I cherish living
if there’s no so called plan?
Why, I would have no future
if it were left to man.
I can’t believe that we just happened
and don’t know what for.
There must be more.
Why should I trust in a love
that I can’t have forever?
Does it seem right
to live a game of take-away?
Should I want for children
if there isn’t any more for them to live for?
Maybe I’m a pessimist – then
maybe I’m not.
One thing that I’d like to know
is what I’ve got.
I don’t want a miracle
or to see you in the air,
but are you up there?
Are you everywhere?
Do you really care?
Are you up there?

It’s Alright

Last night as I got home,
much to my suprise.
Alright, oh it’s alright.
Looked up, honey, there it was
right before my eyes.
Alright, oh it’s alright.
Came to me like
like the lightning and thunder.
What it was I
still I wonder what it was.
Some day just by chance you’ll see
what I’m tryin’ to say.
Alright, oh it’s alright.
Came to me like
like the lightning and thunder.
What it was I
still I wonder what it was.
Some find, some will never see.
Others throw it away.
Alright, oh it’s alright.

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall.
I don’t like your life at all.
How did we ever come to be
the kind of person that I see?
Mister, mister look alike.
Don’t we both want what is right?
I want to change, but can’t you see
you’re the one who’s stopping me?
You can lie and you can cheat.
Step on those who kiss your feet.
Do you think no one will see?
Don’t forget you can’t fool me.

Darlin’

Darlin’, I look into your eyes
and see what words could never tell.
Darliln’ you made me understand
the me I thought I knew so well.
Like an angel sent from up above,
you came and touched my life with love.
Oh, darlin’, I’d love to make you mine
I would.
Darlin’, each time I look at you,
I see a missing part of me.
Darlin’ if you would walk with me,
we’ll step toward eternity.
And when the world is finally through,
I’ll still be ever loving you.
Oh, darlin’, there is no end if I’m with you.
Oh, darlin’, there’s really nothing we can’t do.

The Last Days

Nations take up their battle stations.
Patrons of zodiac revelations.
Lustations breaking family relations.
Litigation allowing shoot-up sensations.
That’s what they said
some day it would be.
Now just look around,
if that’s what we see…
It’s gotta be the last days.
Gotta be the last days.
People living lives of confusion.
Millions caught up in revolution.
Cities lost in their own pollution.
Question what is the constitution?
That’s what they said
some day it would be.
Now just look around,
if that’s what we see…
It’s gotta be the last days.
It’s gotta be the last days..

Goin’ Home

I’m a track star, gotta run far,
and I’m ready to go.
It’s a long, long road and I gotta make it on my own.
Everybody’s gainin’ on me,
tryin’ to slow me down.
But if I’m gonna make it,
gotta fight, fight, fight all day,
and night, and day alright!
Goin’ home, goin’ home, goin’ home
I gotta make it, gonna make it alright.
Goin’ home, goin’ home, goin’ home
If it takes me the rest of my life.
I’m a space man, from a different land,
I gotta get back home.
I’ve been gone so long
that I’m feelin’ like a useless man.
Everybody’s lookin’ at me
tryin’ to help me down.
I gotta fight, fight, fight
even though it takes another day
and night and day alright!
Oh my, why, why
is it either win or lose?
Some how, some day
I’ll never ever have to go away.
Goin’ home, goin’ home, goin’ home
I gotta make it, gonna make it alright.
Goin’ home, goin’ home, goin’ home
if it takes me the rest of my life.

There Are More Stars Than All The Grains Of Sand On Earth.

“Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.” Hosea 1: 10

the family

In the premortal existence, Heavenly Father prepared a plan to enable us to become like Him and receive a fulness of joy. The scriptures refer to this plan as “the plan of salvation” (Alma 24: 14Moses 6: 62), “the great plan of happiness” (Alma 42: 8), “the plan of redemption” (Jacob 6: 8; Alma 12: 30, and “the plan of mercy” (Alma 42: 15). The plan of salvation is the fulness of the gospel. It includes the Creation, the Fall, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and all the laws, ordinances, and doctrines of the gospel. Moral agency, the ability to choose and act for ourselves, is also essential in Heavenly Father’s plan. Because of this plan, we can be perfected through the Atonement, receive a fulness of joy, and live forever in the presence of God. Our family relationships can last throughout the eternities.

“That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.”  Gen. 22: 17

One of life’s great questions is “Who am I?” A beloved Primary song helps even little children answer this question. We sing, “I am a child of God, and he has sent me here.” The knowledge that we are children of God provides strength, comfort, and hope.

We are all literally children of God, spiritually begotten in the premortal life. As His children, we can be assured that we have divine, eternal potential and that He will help us in our sincere efforts to reach that potential.

“Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you;
Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save.
Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him.
Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks.
Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening.
Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies.
Yea, cry unto him against the devil, who is an enemy to all righteousness.
Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them.
Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase.
But this is not all; ye must pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness.

Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your cwelfare, and also for the welfare of those who are around you.  Alma 34: 17-27

the familyMy brothers and I wrote and released The Plan album in 1973 to express our beliefs that God Lives and is in charge, that Jesus is The Way, and that there is a Plan of Salvation where if we follow our Savior Jesus Christ, we will live again with our families for all eternity!

There is NO greater message then this!  ”I can’t believe that we just happened and don’t know what for, there must be more!”  THERE IS!

We are living in the Last Days and see the good and the evil all around us.  ”That’s what they said, someday it would be, Now Just Look Around, If that’s what we SEE, IT’S GOTTA BE THE LAST DAYS!”

We must Choose The Way of Everlasting Darkness, or The Way of Eternal Life where we will “Go Home” and be with our Heavenly Parents.  That is THE PLAN of Life that God and Jesus designed from the very beginning.

There ARE things that we must do to be able to return back HOME.

Listen to THE PLAN and you will find, THE WAY!

God, Jesus, Holy Ghost, “Are You Up There?”

“So it was with me. I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true; and while they were persecuting me, reviling me, and speaking all manner of evil against me falsely for so saying, I was led to say in my heart: Why persecute me for telling the truth? I have actually seen a vision; and who am I that I can withstand God, or why does the world think to make me deny what I have actually seen? For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation.”  JS-H 1: 25

After Near-Death Experience, Boy Says, “Heaven Is Real”.

By on Apr 08 in Blog tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | Comments Off

In the scriptures, the word “heaven” is used in two basic ways.

First, it refers to the place where God lives, which is the ultimate home of the faithful (see Mosiah 2:41).

Second, it refers to the expanse around the earth (see Genesis 1:1).

In the premortal existence, Heavenly Father prepared a plan to enable us to become like Him and receive a fulness of joy. The scriptures refer to this plan as “the plan of salvation” (Alma 24:14; Moses 6:62), “the great plan of happiness” (Alma 42:8), “the plan of redemption” (Jacob 6:8;Alma 12:30), and “the plan of mercy” (Alma 42:15).

We are participants in Heavenly Father’s plan, and our eternal experience can be divided into three main parts: premortal life, mortal life, and life after death.

At that council, Heavenly Father presented His great plan of happiness (see Abraham 3:22-26).

In harmony with the plan of happiness, the premortal Jesus Christ, the Firstborn Son of the Father in the spirit, covenanted to be the Savior (see Moses 4:2; Abraham 3:27). Those who followed Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were permitted to come to the earth to experience mortality and progress toward eternal life. Lucifer, another spirit son of God, rebelled against the plan and “sought to destroy the agency of man” (Moses 4:3). He became Satan, and he and his followers were cast out of heaven and denied the privileges of receiving a physical body and experiencing mortality (see Moses 4:4; Abraham 3:27-28).

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14: 2

“Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves—to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life.”  2 Ne. 10: 23
