What Matters The Most?

Read and Ponder the following questions:

1. Name  the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name  the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

4  Name  ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name  the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best Actor and actress.

 6. Name  the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

 The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

 These are no second-rate achievers.

 They are the best in their fields.

 But the applause dies..

 Awards tarnish..

 Achievements are forgotten.

 Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here’s some more questions.  See how you do on this one:

 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson:

 The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money…or the most awards.  They simply are the ones who care the most.

Pass this on to those people who have either made a difference In your life, or whom you keep close in your heart, like I did.

‘Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in  Australia!’

Five Finger Prayer

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a ‘sweet duty.’

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God’s guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, ‘The least shall be the greatest among you.’ Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.


Don’t tell God how big your storm is, tell the storm how big your God is!!!!!
