I Wish You Enough
Recently I overheard a elderly couple in their last moments together at the airport with their daughter. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'
The daughter replied,'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you and Mon enough, too.' They kissed and the daughter left.
The Couple walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see they wanted and needed to cry.
I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but they welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?' 'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?' 'We are old, and she lives so far away. We have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for one of our funerals,' he said.
'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough..' May I ask what that means?' The elderly man began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone...' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more. 'When we said, ‘I wish you enough,’ we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.’
Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory. . .
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
The couple again began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.
TAKE TIME TO LIVE....

Noah Today!

NOAH TODAY
In the year 2011, the Lord came unto Noah,
who was now living in Buffalo and said:
“Once again, the earth has become wicked and over
-populated, and I see the end of all flesh before me.”
“Build another Ark and save 2 of every living thing
Along with a few good humans.”
He gave Noah the blueprints, saying:
“You have 6 months to build the Ark before I will
Start the unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights.”
Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah
Weeping in his yard – but no Ark.
“Noah!,” He roared, “I’m about to start the rain!
Where is the Ark?”
“Forgive me, Lord,” begged Noah, “but things have changed.”
“I need a building permit”!
“I’ve been arguing with the Boat Inspector
About the need for a sprinkler system.”
“My neighbors claim that I’ve violated the
Neighborhood By-Laws by building the Ark in my
Back Garden and exceeding the height limitations.
We had to Go to the
Local Planning Committee for a variance.”
“Then the Local Councl and the Electricity Company
demanded a shed load of money for the future costs of
moving power lines and other overhead obstructions, to clear the
Passage for the Ark’s move to the sea.
I told them that the Sea would be comming to us, but
they would hear nothing of it.”
“Getting the wood was another problem.
There’s a ban on cutting local trees in order to save
The Greater Spotted Barn Owl.”
“I tried to convince the environmentalists that I
needed the wood to save the owls – but no go!”
“When I started gathering the animals the
FSPCA took me to court. They insisted that I was
Confining wild animals against their will. They
Argued the accommodation were too restrictive, and
It was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in
A confined space.”
“Then the Environmental Agency ruled that I couldn’t
build the Ark until they’s conducted and environmental
impact study on your proposed flood.”
“I’m still trying to resolve a complaint with the
Humand Rights Commission on how many minorities I’m
Supposed to hire for my building crew.”
“Immigration are checking the
Visa status of most of the people who want to work.”
“The trades unions say I can’t use my sons. They
Insist I have to hire only Union workers with
Ark-building experience.”
“To make matters worse, the Inland Revenue seized all
my assets, claiming I’m trying to leave the country
ILLEGALLY
With endangered species.”
“So, forgive me, Lord, but it wold take at leaset TEN
Years for me to finish this Ark.”
“Suddenly the skies cleared, the sun began to shine,
And a rainbow stretched across the sky.”
Noah looked up in wonder and asked,
You mean you’re not going to destroy the world?”
“No,” said the Lord.
“The Government beat me to it.”“And the fire of mine indignation is kindled against them; and in my hot displeasure will I send in the floods upon them, for my fierce anger is kindled against them.” Moses 7: 34
