Godly Fear

To Fear God . . . Is To Love God.

Therefore They Hushed Their Fears.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

Before the second coming of Jesus Christ, certain promised signs and wonders are to take place, making it possible for his Saints to know the approximate time of his coming. Jesus said:

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

“So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” (Matt. 24:32–33.)

Do Not Be Deceived

the family
Are you comfortable within or is there something more that you are missing that you must do or someone you must become?

Are you looking with a searchful eye for that someone or something that will bring peace and fulfillment to your heart?

Have you identified your purpose and reason for being here and have you charted a course of action to see it fulfilled?

Can you feel the urge of something most powerful coming that you have yet to experience and witness in your life?

We are living at a time when we use so much technology, electronics, and inventions along with the overscheduling of activities that consume much of our daily time, attention and focus that we sometimes pass by the simple and pure moments this life was designed to provide.

the familyWhen was the last time you stopped and took a deep breath of fresh air?  Did you miss the gorgeous sunset that painted the sky because you lost yourself in watching the latest video or distracted by an incoming text?

Did you miss the cry of a tender babe reaching out for someone’s touch but you weren’t there?

Are you more concerned about being entertained and stimulating in your life instead of creating goodness for the blessing of others?

the family

This world has purpose and if we are not careful we will miss out on those precious teaching moments that were sent to us for our long-term growth and eternal progression.

The spiritual influences that we sometimes most miss out on and ignore are the simple and loving moments that are really the driving forces of life moving us onward and forward in completing “God’s work and Glory in bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man”, of which we are.  The world keeps after us trying to replacing those things with doubt, lack of truth, and the sensational, physically stimulating influences usually generated by ‘the love of money’.

the familyWe are here by design.  We did not just happen and we must not let another day go by and ‘just happen’ either.  Each day must be planned with meditation and prayer followed by having “ears to hear” those inspirational promptings of the Holy Spirit along with definite action items in order to accomplish our reason and purposes for being here.

From which source do you get your inspiration?  There are two; good and bad.

Are you caught up in the inertia or gravity of one of these forces and find yourself somewhat trapped and just can’t get out?

It is important that you achieve a balance and have order in all things. This world has replaced much of the spiritual flow of influence. It is a most important day and time to realize this and make choices that bring balance into your life as time is slipping away in God’s Plan of Happiness when one must achieve certain things in order to progress to a higher or lower world of glory as designed.  What you choose, is your choice!  If you chose poorly, change it!  Yes, you can!  (With Jesus’s help.)

There are two forces in this world. There is a powerful driving force behind both of them.   The laws of God require that there must be opposites in all things.  It is as though a war is going on within us between these two forces to influence and capture our souls whose prupose drives both forces.

the familyEvery person born has a father and a mother.  Satan makes a major effort to destroy the sanctity of the family, demean the importance of the role of men and women, encourage moral uncleanliness and violations of the sacred law of chastity, and to discourage parents from placing the bearing and rearing of children as one of their highest priorities.

The family is the primary support structure in God’s plan to help us resist evil, overcome weakness, and work out our salvation.  For this reason we should do all we can to strengthen the family in these days of confusion and opposition. The best choice one can make is to find a partner in life and get married and have a family.   Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. The family, the most fundamental institution of society, is under attack from all sides. Adultery, divorce, cohabitation, child and spouse abuse, homosexuality, abortion, teen pregnancies, pornography, disobedient children, economic struggles, an increasing unwillingness among married couples to bear and rear children—all these and more are proof that the adversary understands very well the central role the family plays in the destiny of God’s children.

Even in such circumstances, we need not fear. God is with us.  In the end, good will conquer evil.  In the here and now however, we must take our place on the front line in this war that began in the pre-mortal existence and do all we can to preserve and protect the sanctity of the family.  In these last days of gathering gloom, the teachings and ordinances of the restored gospel shine as a unique beacon of hope.  As we build our families upon the gospel’s firm foundation, our light will shine brighter and attract those who are seeking hope and happiness in a deteriorating world that offers neither.

the familyThe day is upon us when all truth will be revealed.  The ‘veil’ on our minds that blocks our memory of our pre-existence and of not remembering will be lifted from this testing period of life.  It is then, when every knee shall bend and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ.  All lies and evil designs of the world will show forth their ugly heads and we will find ourselves as though we are looking in a mirror reviewing our own life as the day has come when we face our Maker.  It is then, that it will be too late to make changes.

Choices and even thoughts we have made are all recorded in the book of life and the process of repentance offered by Jesus Christ must have been made prior to death or all things will be on our records for review.  This is why it is so important to let Jesus Christ  remove your sins by repenting and gaining forgiveness.   There will be no doubt that Jesus is the Christ; that the Creation and God’s Plan of Happiness did really happen and that we lived before this world was in the Spirit World.   We shouted for joy when God’s Plan of Happiness was announced for all to come to earth and get a physical body in order to fulfill God’s ‘work and glory’ and in becoming more like our eternal parents. Yes, we will remember!

It is then when all the evil and worldliness that Satan, his conspiring men, plus the one third of the hosts of heaven that followed him in the pre-existence have introduced to this world all the immorality, lies, thoughts, abortions, killing, taking the Lord’s name in vain, even the damaging of our bodies will be answered with a price.  Satan and those who follow him will be cast out to outer darkness to receive their just rewards.   The choices of following the ‘natural man’ will prove to be “an enemy to God” as the scriptures have so stated.  All prophecy will have been fulfilled and the return of Jesus Christ to rule forever.  It is then that all the hurt or all the joy will fill our souls and the time to ‘return and report’ what we did with our lives will be at hand with appropriate blessings or punishments.

There will be no lying, or claiming, “I never knew”, as our every thoughts and actions have all been recorded and they will be displayed for our remembrance if necessary at that time to be made clear.  It will probably be so clear and obvious after reviewing our  past that we will know of our destiny and we will judge ourselves as to which ‘mansion of heaven’ we will deserve to go.

God is loving and just.  God is not the author of confusion.

Do not be deceived!

the family

But know this, that if the Goodman of the house had known in

and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not
the Son of man cometh.”

What It’s Like To Be Old

the family

I am so thankful that I got MS. It has taught me many important things I couldn’t have learned otherwise and brought me home to my sweet wife Suzanne.

It has allowed me to be with my wife, 8 sons, 7 daughters-in-law, and our 25 grandkids.

I have had more time to do the things I enjoy, to be a publisher of peace by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to have served 10 years in the temple or house of the Lord, and to be around my grandkids as a good grandpa should!

In talking to others of my age, I often hear of their heartaches, bad choices, wishing they could go back, desires to be and act young, bitter attitudes, and of course the positive who are grateful to be alive along with some wonderful memories they have had.

As I keep working and trying to help Strengthen Families and help others to become self reliant, toxic free, and financially secure . . . , I still enjoy  writing write and lyrics/poems.

I share one that came to me last night that deals with . . .
“What It’s Like To Be Old”.

“Wherefore, children shall grow up until they become old;

The Women In Our Lives

The Women In Our Lives

How thankful I am,
how thankful we all must be,
for the women in our lives.

the family

“We are daughters of our Heavenly Father,

who loves us, and we love Him.”

These words apply to all women, whether 8 or 88.

“Charity never faileth” isn’t a motto just for adult women; it’s also exemplified by the tender care of a young girl for her mother and new sibling. The young sing “I am a child of God,” and we all are.

No matter our life experience, all women are part of a vast, shared sisterhood. There is strength and cause for celebration in realizing that we are all part of the same heavenly family.

the family

Women are a necessary part of the plan of happiness, and that plan cannot operate without them. Women participate in the work of salvation, and as a disciple of Jesus Christ.  Every woman is given the responsibility to know and defend the divine roles of women, which include that of wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. They stand strong and immovable in faith, in family, and in relief.

Women participate in Church councils that oversee congregational activities throughout the world. They also have, by divine nature, the greater gift and responsibility for home and children and nurturing there and in other settings.

the familyWith the Creation of the world, we read in the book of Genesis and in the book of Moses of that great, singular, and remarkable undertaking. The Almighty was the architect of that creation. Under His direction it was executed by His Beloved Son, the Great Jehovah, who was assisted by Michael, the archangel.

There came first the forming of heaven and earth, to be followed by the separation of the light from the darkness. The waters were removed from the land. Then came vegetation, followed by the animals. There followed the crowning creation of man. Genesis records that “God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Gen. 1:31).

But the process was not complete.

“For Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

“And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

“And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

the family“And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman” (Gen. 2:20–23).

And so Eve became God’s final creation, the grand summation of all of the marvelous work that had gone before.

Notwithstanding this preeminence given the creation of woman, she has so frequently through the ages been relegated to a secondary position. She has been put down. She has been denigrated. She has been enslaved. She has been abused. And yet some few of the greatest characters of scripture have been women of integrity, accomplishment, and faith.

the familyWe have Esther, Naomi, and Ruth of the Old Testament. We have Sariah of the Book of Mormon. We have Mary, the very mother of the Redeemer of the world. We have her as the chosen of God, described by Nephi as “a virgin, most beautiful and fair above all other virgins” (1 Ne. 11:15).

She it was who carried the child Jesus into Egypt to save His life from the wrath of Herod. She it was who nurtured Him in His boyhood and young manhood. She stood before Him when His pain-wracked body hung upon the cross on Calvary’s hill. In His suffering He said to her, “Woman, behold thy son!” And to His disciple in a plea that he care for her, He said, “Behold thy mother!” (John 19:26–27).

the familyCrossing through His life we have Mary and Martha, and Mary of Magdala. She it was who came to the tomb that first Easter morning. And to her, a woman, He first appeared as the resurrected Lord. Why is it that even though Jesus placed woman in a position of preeminence, so many men who profess His name fail to do so?

In His grand design, when God first created man, He created a duality of the sexes. The ennobling expression of that duality is found in marriage. One individual is complementary to the other. As Paul stated, “Neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord” (1 Cor. 11:11).

marriageThere is no other arrangement that meets the divine purposes of the Almighty. Man and woman are His creations. Their duality is His design. Their complementary relationships and functions are fundamental to His purposes. One is incomplete without the other.

I recognize that we have many wonderful women among us who do not have the opportunity of marriage. But they, too, make such a tremendous contribution. They serve faithfully and ably.

There are some men who, in a spirit of arrogance, think they are superior to women. They do not seem to realize that they would not exist but for the mother who gave them birth. When they assert their superiority they demean her. It has been said, “Man can not degrade woman without himself falling into degradation; he can not elevate her without at the same time elevating himself” (Alexander Walker, in Elbert Hubbard’s Scrap Book [1923], 204).

How very true that is. We see the bitter fruit of that degradation all about us. Divorce is one of its results. This evil runs rampant through our society. It is the outcome of disrespect for one’s marriage partner. It manifests itself in neglect, in criticism, in abuse, in abandonment.

Jesus declared, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matt. 19:6).

repent2The word man is used in the generic sense, but the fact is that it is predominantly men who bring about the conditions that lead to divorce.

After dealing with hundreds of divorce situations through the years, I am satisfied that the application of a single practice would do more than all else to solve this grievous problem.

If every husband and every wife would constantly do whatever might be possible to ensure the comfort and happiness of his or her companion, there would be very little, if any, divorce. Argument would never be heard. Accusations would never be leveled. Angry explosions would not occur. Rather, love and concern would replace abuse and meanness.

There was a popular song we sang many years ago, the lyrics of which said:

I want to be happy,

But I won’t be happy

Till I make you happy, too.

(Irving Caesar, “I Want to Be Happy” [1924])

How true this is.

Every woman is a daughter of God. You cannot offend her without offending Him. I plead with all men to look for and nurture the divinity that lies within their companions. To the degree that happens, there will be harmony, peace, enrichment of family life, nurturing love.

“No other success [in life]
can compensate
for failure in the home.”

Miss Me But Let Me Go

Miss Me But Let Me Go

“When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom-filled room!

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not too long

And not with your head bowed low!

Remember the love that we once shared

Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take

And each must go alone;

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan

A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart

Go to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds

Miss me, but let me go.

Physical death is the separation of the spirit from the mortal body.
The Fall of Adam brought physical death into the world (see Moses 6:48).
Because of the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ,
all mankind will be resurrected and redeemed from physical death.

the family

Death is an essential part of Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation (see 2 Nephi 9:6). In order to become like our Eternal Father, we must experience death and later receive perfect, resurrected bodies.

the familyWhen the physical body dies, the spirit continues to live. In the spirit world, the spirits of the righteous “are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow” (Alma 40:12). A place called spirit prison is reserved for “those who [have] died in their sins, without a knowledge of the truth, or in transgression, having rejected the prophets” (D&C 138:32). The spirits in prison are “taught faith in God, repentance from sin, vicarious baptism for the remission of sins, the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, and all other principles of the gospel that [are] necessary for them to know” (D&C 138:33-34). If they accept the principles of the gospel, repent of their sins, and accept ordinances performed in their behalf in temples, they will be welcomed into paradise.

Because of the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, physical death is only temporary: “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22). Everyone will be resurrected, meaning that every person’s spirit will be reunited with his or her body—“restored to their proper and perfect frame” and no longer subject to death (Alma 40:23; see also Alma 11:44-45).

If The World Only Knew What They Were Missing

the family

Here we are living in ‘a great and dreadful day’ with higher learning and so many comforts of life.  We have access to so much information and can advance so fast in society.  Yet, there are still so many who struggle and suffer, especially for knowledge and truth about their origin and destiny.  One of the most important needs we have is the knowledge of  who we are, where we came from, why we are here and where we are going; religion.

If people would just stop and think about life and see those that are truly happy, they will find it is because they have searched their hearts with prayer and in their minds with studying and reading good books, have found peace within knowing that God is there; realizing He has provided the way to return as His children with with an eternal plan where marriages and families can be together forever!  May I share?

Over the history of this world, there have been many religious leaders who felt inspired and caused many people to follow.  Each of us has the right to learn with the freedom and power to choose ‘The Way’ we wish to live our lives and believe.  That’s why we came here.  Some also become set and immoveable and will not hear or listen to many truths that have come forth.  If the world only knew what they were missing!

Here are 10 facts about 12 major religions.

the family

These pages summarise the main features of the 12 largest world religions, which together are followed by almost 80% of the world’s population. These beliefs are described without passing any judgment on their truth or otherwise. Not included here are so-called “tribal” and African religions (6%), spiritism, the Eastern religions Cao Dai and Juche (less than 1% in total) and non religious (16%). With all of this confusion in the world and deciding what to believe, is there any wonder why there are so many religions today?  It is not God’s fault but man’s.

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
1 Corinthians 14:33

the family

At some point in each of our lives we will each ask these questions:

Who am I?
Why am I here?
Where am I going?

When God created this world, he gave Adam and Eve all of the knowledge they needed with answers to these questions.  He even walked and talked with them in the Garden of Eden.  Many of those truths have since been lost, distorted, and misinterpreted over time causing so many people in the world to have no religion at all; an athiest.

Many precious parts were taken out of the Bible during the days of Constantine about 300-400 AD and are missing.  But are those truths lost?  No.

Jesus Christ gave his words to “His sheep” and to all that would hear.  And for that, He was Crucified.  But, after Jesus rose from the dead, He ascended into Heaven, which is Paradise; a holding place where we go after death until judgement day.  He also returned and visited several peoples  (or ‘sheep‘, He being the Shepherd) of various nations around the world and gave them His word and covenants, letting them know that He was also their Savior and Redeemer.  He commanded them to write His words as a record to come forth at such a time as this when He knew there would be much confusion.

Some records have come already come forth and several others will soon be coming forth.

Those records or books have and will reveal many of the ‘lost’ promising truths and covenants, and blessings for which many religions have no answers.

God Created all things spiritually BEFORE He created them physically.

the familyAnd I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them.”  Moses 2:27

“… And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth. For I, the Lord God, had not caused it to rain upon the face of the earth. And I, the Lord God, had created all the children of men; and not yet a man to till the ground; for in heaven created I them; and there was not yet flesh upon the earth, neither in the water, neither in the air;”  Moses 3:5

“And I, the Lord God, formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul, the first flesh upon the earth, the first man also; nevertheless, all things were before created; but spiritually were they created and made according to my word.”  Moses 3:7

Our potential to become like our Heavenly Parents

‘We are NOT human beings having Spiritual experiences.

We ARE Spiritual beings having human experiences.’

the familyIt is my testimony that God lives and that He created this world with its Creation, Fall and Atonement of Jesus Christ, and worlds without number along with God-given laws, ordinances and doctrines.  His plan makes it possible for all people to be exalted and live forever with God (2 Ne. 2:9), a glory of the celestial, which excels in all things – where God, even the Father, reigns upon his throne forever and ever.   D&C 76:92.   The scriptures also refer to this plan as the plan of salvation, the plan of happiness, and the plan of mercy.

We lived before as spirit children of God and battled in heaven over good and evil.  One third of those spirit children followed Satan and were cast out of heaven with Satan into everlasting darkness.  Those that won that war chose to come to this earth, to progress and become more like our Heavenly Parents by gaining a physical body and becoming creators of life ourselves.

We are here on earth to be tested as a ‘natural man’ (which is an enemy of God), to gain intelligence (which is the Glory of God), and to be tempted by Satan once again over good and evil and to make choices that will directly effect one’s future; and mansion in heaven  where one goes to live after we die, and are judged on condition of living forever in a resurrected state, not subject to physical death.  Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.  1 Corinthians 3:13

This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, John 17:3 (D&C 132:24).  We must fight the good fight of faith and lay hold on eternal life. (1 Tim. 6:12)  People are free to choose liberty and eternal life, (2 Ne. 2:27) (Hel. 14:31).  To be spiritually minded is life eternal. (2 Ne. 9:39)  Then are ye in the narrow path that leads to eternal life.  (2 Ne. 31:17–20)  God gives eternal life to the obedient, (Moses 5:11).

To believe in Christ and endure to the end is life eternal, 2 Ne. 33:4 (3 Ne. 15:9).  He that hath eternal life is rich, D&C 6:7 (D&C 11:7).  Eternal life is the greatest of all the gifts of God, D&C 14:7 (Rom. 6:23).  The righteous will receive peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, D&C 59:23  Those who endure to the end shall have a crown of eternal life, D&C 66:12 (D&C 75:5).  If the marriage of a man and a woman has been sealed in the house of the Lord, they and their offspring will be together eternally as a family.

All who die without the gospel who would have received it had they lived are heirs of the celestial kingdom, D&C 137:7–9.  This is all a part of God’s eternal Plan of life for His children because “God’s work and glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man, Moses 1:39; ‘man’ refers to all mankind, both male and female. All men and women are the literal, spiritual offspring of a Heavenly Father. When they are born into mortality, they receive physical, mortal bodies. These bodies were created in God’s image (Gen. 1:26–27). Men and women who are faithful in receiving the necessary ordinances, keeping their covenants, and obeying God’s commands will enter into their exaltation and become as God.  And if thou art faithful unto the end thou shalt have a crown of immortality, and eternal life in the mansions which I have prepared in the house of my Father.  D&C 81:6.

Have you ever seen a baby chick that didn’t become a chicken?  A pony always becomes a horse?  We as children become like our parents.  “Like Father like son; like Mother like daughter”.

I hope this has made you think about what you might be missing and that you will reach within for answers that are real. Again remember, ‘God is NOT the author of confusion’.  I invite you to pray with real intent that you may enter into the rest of the Lord.  The Spirit of Christ can be with you and enable you to know good from evil.  Satan persuades men to deny Christ and do evil.  The prophets manifest the coming of Christ with faith, miracles are wrought and angels will minister unto you.  All mankind shoud hope for eternal life and cleave unto charity always doing good.

This I know to be true,

Winning The War Against Evil

the family

You were entrusted to come to the earth in these last days to do again what you did before—to once again choose good over evil.

The flood of pornographic filth, the inordinate emphasis on sex and violence are not peculiar to North America. The situation is as bad in Europe and in many other areas. The whole dismal picture indicates a weakening rot seeping into the very fiber of society.

Legal restraints against deviant moral behavior are eroding under legislative enactments and court opinions. This is done in the name of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of choice in so-called personal matters. But the bitter fruit of these so-called freedoms has been enslavement to debauching habits and behavior that leads only to destruction. A prophet, speaking long ago, aptly described the process when he said, “And thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell” (2 Ne. 28:21).

Good Versus Evil

Good-vs-Evil

You and I have come into the world at a most significant time. We are entering the final stages of a great war. This war commenced before the foundations of the world and has been pursued with awful consequence throughout the world’s history. I speak of the war between the followers of Christ and all those who deny Him as their God. 1

John the Revelator wrote concerning this war:

the family“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

“And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” 2

It was Satan who instigated this premortal war. He did so by rebelling against our Father’s plan of salvation for His children and rejecting the Christ, who was designated to effectuate the plan. Tragically, a third of our Father’s children followed Satan. 3 Yet two-thirds did not. You were among these, and with them have come to earth to pursue the Father’s plan of happiness.

Unfortunately, Satan’s war did not end with his expulsion from heaven. As John observed, Satan and his followers were “cast out into the earth” 4 and have come here with “great wrath.” 5 The evidence of their wrath can be seen in the blood and horror that has afflicted man from the beginning of time.

So profound and extensive have been the wounds suffered among men that God Himself wept as He surveyed man’s condition. 6

the familyWe now find ourselves in the last days of this earth’s temporal history. In a coming day, our Father’s Son will return to the earth from which He was rejected and reclaim it as His own. 7 In that day, He will subdue Satan and his legions and usher in a thousand years of peace and righteousness. 8 In anticipation of that day, God has restored His kingdom to the earth one last time.

While God’s kingdom has been established on the earth in times past, the people to whom the kingdom was previously committed were unable to keep it. This time, however, is different. The prophetic promise is that this time God’s kingdom will not be lost but will overcome the world. 10

To ensure its ultimate success, the final restoration of God’s kingdom has been commenced with unprecedented spiritual power 11 and is being sustained by that same spiritual power and something more. Reserved to come forth in these last days and labor for our Father and His Son are some of the most valiant and noble of our Father’s sons and daughters. Their valiance and nobility were demonstrated in the pre-earth struggle with Satan. There, “being left to choose good or evil,” they “[chose] good” and exhibited “exceedingly great faith” and “good works.” 12 Such are the traits that are now needed to sustain the work of God in the earth and to save the souls of men from the intensifying wrath of the adversary.

You are the strength of the Lord’s house, His warriors!

You are those who chose good over evil and who exhibited “exceedingly great faith” and “good works.” And because of your personal history, you were entrusted to come to the earth in these last days to do again what you did before—to once again choose good over evil, exercise exceedingly great faith, and perform good works—and to do so in behalf of the kingdom of God on the earth and your fellowman!

Satan knows that “he hath but a short time.” 14 Therefore, Satan is marshalling every resource at his disposal to entice you into transgression. He knows that if he can draw you into transgression, he may prevent you from marrying and securing your future children in the faith.  He knows that nothing can overthrow God’s kingdom “save it [be] the transgression of [his] people.”15 Make no mistake about it—the focus of his war is now on you—you who seek to “keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” 16

The days that lie ahead are “perilous.” 17 In this regard, President Boyd K. Packer has observed:

the family“I know of nothing in the history of the world to compare with our present circumstances. Nothing happened in Sodom and Gomorrah which exceeds in wickedness and depravity that which surrounds us now.” 18

In referring to the perils of our day, I do not intend to inspire fear, but soberness. Being sober means being earnest and serious in assessing your circumstances and careful and circumspect in weighing the consequences of your actions. Soberness therefore yields good judgment, as well as measured conduct.

So, as we enter the final climactic stages of the war against Satan, be sober.  Understand that you cannot partake of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco. You cannot participate in pornography or other immoral activity. You cannot lie, cheat, or steal. You cannot use false, demeaning, or dirty language. You cannot deface your body with tattoos and other piercings. You cannot do these things and be victorious in the battle for your own soul, let alone be a valiant warrior in the great struggle for the souls of all the rest of our Father’s children. 23

Understand that there is only one way to win the war against Satan, and that is to win it in the same way it was won in the beginning.

When victory was finally achieved in the War in Heaven, a loud voice was heard to declare:

“Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ. …

“For they [referring to Michael and his angels] have overcome him [referring to the devil] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; for they loved not their own lives, but kept the testimony even unto death.” 24

Do not miss the significance of this declaration. Satan was overcome in the beginning by (1) faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice, (2) testimony of Him that was steadfastly kept to the very end, and (3) consecration of oneself to the Lord and His work. If this was the means for defeating him in the beginning, you can be sure that this is the one sure way to defeat him now. 25

These are your days! Do not squander them! Be sober! Take “the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall … quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” 31 Then “fight the good fight of faith.” 32 And when you have done all, “stand” 33 still and “see the salvation of the Lord.” 34 I assure you that His salvation will come, delivering you and yours from every evil.

Gun Control For DUMMIES

the famiy

From the Publisher,

The Lord has said that in the last days there will be “wars and rumors of wars, and the whole earth shall be in commotion, and men’s hearts shall fail them” (D&C 45:26). As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are a people of peace. We follow the Savior, who is the Prince of Peace. We look forward to His millennial reign, when wars will end and peace will be restored to the earth (see Isaiah 2:4). However, we recognize that in this world, government leaders sometimes send military troops to war to defend their nations and ideals.

Latter-day Saints in the military do not need to feel torn between their country and their God. In the Church, “we believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law” (Articles of Faith 1:12). Military service shows dedication to this principle.

If Latter-day Saints are called upon to go into battle, they can look to the example of Captain Moroni, the great military leader in the Book of Mormon. Although he was a mighty warrior, he “did not delight in bloodshed” (Alma 48:11). He was “firm in the faith of Christ,” and his only reason for fighting was to “defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion” (Alma 48:13). If Latter-day Saints must go to war, they should go in a spirit of truth and righteousness, with a desire to do good. They should go with love in their hearts for all God’s children, including those on the opposing side. Then, if they are required to shed another’s blood, their action will not be counted as a sin.

There is a war happening right now over good and evil!  We must be prepared and protect our families and loved ones.  We must also protect our rights and freedoms and maintain the right to bear arms as our forefathers warned us in the Second Ammendment of the Constitution.
