Don’t Let People Tell You Who You Are

the family

“There was only one perfect being, the Lord Jesus. If men had to be perfect and live all of the laws strictly, wholly, and completely [to be eligible for eternal life], there would be only one saved person in eternity. There are many things to be done, even beyond the grave, in working out our salvation.

And so what we do in this life is chart a course leading to eternal life. That course begins here and now and continues in the realms ahead. We must determine in our hearts and in our souls, with all the power and ability that we have, that from this time forward we will press on in righteousness; by so doing we can go where God and Christ are. If we make that firm determination, and are in the course of our duty when this life is over, we will continue in that course in eternity”

Life – A Perfect Bliss?

Bliss is an emotional state that is characterized by perfect happiness (feelings of enjoyment, pleasure, and satisfaction).

the family“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal, is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he’s been robbed.  The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to just be people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise.

Life is like an old time rail journey . . . delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and a thrilling burst of speed.

The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.”

The Voice Of John – The Movie

The Voice Of John – The Movie

Nurse Tells Story of Baby Born After Failed Abortion.

On November 4 of 2012, a new pro-life documentary – The Voice of John – was released. This film discussed the reality of babies born alive after abortions as well as evidence of atrocities that occur with far too much regularity in the abortion industry. In The Voice of John, the humanity of the unborn will be made real in yet one more way for the world to see, as “one small voice will speak for millions.”

“John” is not a make-believe person or a fantasy. He is a real baby, who survived an abortion and was then left to die by medical professionals. The movie’s site details the true story behind The Voice of John:

In 1977, a young nurse was working in an obstetrics unit of a major veteran’s hospital, stumbled upon a LIVE baby, placed in a ‘dirty utility room,’ left to die! What she did not realize is that Roe vs. Wade had just been passed by the U.S. Supreme Court and this atrocity was indeed legal! The staff in the facility reprimanded her as she tried to explain that a baby was alive and placed on a cold metal table and left to die! Against their instruction, she held that baby in her arms and listened to his soft whimpering cries for survival. She held the child, baptized him, and said, ‘I name you John, and I will tell the world what I saw here today. I will be your voice!’

Thirty-five years later, Maryann Lawhon will hold true to her promise as River Song Productions presents…’The Voice of John.’

The Voice of John will featured former Governor Mike Huckabee, former Planned Parenthood director and current president of And Then There Were None Abby Johnson, Father Frank Pavone, scientist Ken Ham, multiple members of the U.S. Congress, medical experts, abortion survivors, women who have had abortions, and former abortion doctors like Carol EverettThe Voice of John takes a look at abortion through a prism of countless angles, opinions, and stories that will bring the real truth to light.

the family

The documentary’s producer shares one of the main purposes behind this film: to convince the church as a whole to act on the issue of abortion:

This film was designed to be an forensic educational production that will not only expose the truth about this senseless killings but show to goodness and forgiveness that we all have through our Lord Jesus Christ. For we learn in Luke 6:37 we see: ‘Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven’. (NIV) Yet statistics show Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as ‘Born-again/Evangelical’. (says Dorothy Guyton of dirt2diamonds.blogspot.com)

A new study by The Center For Reason (www.CenterForReason.com) finds that Christians have just as many abortions as their non-Christian counterparts. The study concludes that in the year 2000, Christians were responsible for 570,000 abortions. Catholics were found to be the worst offenders, with abortion rates higher than the national average. (www.centerforreason.com) We have a lot of work to do but it’s not all done on the streets of this great nation. It needs to be done right inside our own church walls. The church can no longer be silent, and then come to ‘life’ every January and every other November, and say ‘We are Pro-Life’ Of the 70 million Christians in the US about 3.5 m or about 5% are involved in the Pro-life movement in some way. Until we realize that abortion is a bigger symptom of the real problem, we cannot see an end in sight.

Five percent of Christians is clearly not enough. More Christians must stand against abortion and stand up for the innocent. Without question, abortion must be spoken about from our pulpits and in our pews. We must speak with truth and compassion, with love and courage. We must determine that we will not stop until every life is saved and every silenced voice – like John’s – is heard. This is the call that has been put on Christians, and we must answer it.

Yet this is not a film for just Christians. The Voice of John is a wake-up call to the nation as a whole. Despite your religious affiliation – or lack of it – and despite your involvement on either side of the abortion issue, and despite your current beliefs, this documentary is a must-see. We must individually wake up to the truth and choose to stand up for innocent lives. We must choose to forgive, and not condemn. Christians must choose to live like Christians, not just claim to be Christians.

Watch The Voice of John, weep with the reality of millions of innocent lives lost, and then get up out of your chair and do something to end the slaughter.

Can We Talk? Are You Prepared For This World And For The Next?

By on Feb 24 in Blog tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | Comments Off

Can we talk?  Are you prepared for this world and for the next?

the familyIn life, when we are young, our parents usually work hard to teach and train us so that we will be prepared to meet life’s challenges as we grow up in this world.  It is a joy for parents to see their children learn and improve and have all the opportunities that they had, or didn’t have, and more. They send us to schools, help us develop our talents, do things with us and take us places and have fun.  They are to teach us truths and principles of right and wrong and how to be organized, get a job, and learn to work for those goals we desire. They usually correct us in our mistakes and try to set good examples of how we should act and behave in order to help us ‘get on our feet’ and to become independent and to live full lives.  They spend much time and hopefully pray for our success and happiness so that we can receive the blessings that this life has to offer, or at least should have!

the familyThose parents and their children who have prepared and have planned for their futures have put forth the effort and investment of learning and working for success in this world will usually find those things for which they had planned. But have they learned for themselves and taught their children about the next life?  Have we been prepared for life after death, how to deal with it; or do we even believe in such a thing?

This is a most important question that everyone must ask of themselves and to find their own answers which are available.  I remember when I did and expressed it in a song!

I wrote in my journal about a song that I wrote expressing these feelings called, “Are You Up There.”  My journal records:

the family“I was in my bed in California late one evening having read scriptures, prayed, and pondered for a great amount of time as to what it was that was in my bosom that I NEEDED to “say”. I could feel it as though it were a physical object inside of me trying to get out. I would stare at the piano keys that were located at the foot of my bed. I was wide-awake but totally still and quiet for around 4+ hours. At about 2 or three o’clock A.M., something happened.

It was an emotional experience as I asked myself . . . “What are you trying to say?” “What is it?” It was like a light turned on . . . and got brighter. Here I was sitting up in bed with my pencil and pad of paper in hand and I started to write. Not only did I write lyrics to an inspired song but also, as I looked at the piano keys, I could see what the music cords and melody were to be. I hardly ever went back to check what I had written or made changes! When I finished I re-read the song and started to cry. I will NEVER forget that experience as long as I live! Someone was helping me. “

Are You Up There?

It could all end tomorrow,
 and where would I be?
Does life go on
or will it be the end of me?
Seems a bit unfair to think that all I’ve learned and done
belongs to no one.

Why should I cherish living
if there’s no so called plan?

Why, I would have no future
if it were left to man.

I can’t believe that we just happened
 and don’t know what for.
There must be more.

Why should I trust in a love
that I can’t have forever?
Does it seem right
to live a game of take-away?
Should I want for children
if there isn’t any more for them to live for?

Maybe I’m a pessimist – then
 maybe I’m not.
One thing that I’d like to know
is what I’ve got.
I don’t want a miracle
or to see you in the air,
 but are you up there?
Are you everywhere?
Do you really care?
  Are you up there?

“I prayed to my Heavenly Father giving Him thanks as I knew that I had been inspired from another source, a very, very good source, for I could NOT have written these words or music myself. I could hardly sleep the rest of the night. I would lie there for the next few hours and re-collect my experience and thoughts. I wanted morning to come very badly so I could share this experience and song with my Brothers!the family

Everyone hopes and wants to believe that this life has purpose and reasons to live; that someone cares and is watching over us.  Even the atheist when facing death cries out, “Oh my God, please help me.”  We can fear death or prepare for it by asking and studying the Holy Scriptures which have God’s and Jesus Christ’s words recorded about these things.  We also can pray and ask if God is there and if the things the scriptures teach are true.  Will you be talking or praying in vain?  No!

As the lyrics to the song asks, it makes reason to believe that ‘there must be more’; that we didn’t just happen and that there was a ‘PLAN of Life’. Well, there is!

According to my faith and beliefs, we all lived before this world was with our Heavenly Parents and were born with a spirit body.  We were taught truths and learned many things.  We were told about God’s ‘Plan of Life’ and the creation that would happen.  We had free agency to choose to come to this world or not via our earthly parents in order for us to obtain a body of flesh and bones in which would house our spirit bodies and be able to create life.  This was all very sacred.

the familyWithout getting into a lengthy doctrinal article here, we all as children of God were prepared before we came to earth to gain a physical body like God, learn truths and choose between good and evil, and to become more like our Heavenly parents and to be given the opportunity or not to be proven or tested; to become parents and co-creators ourselves with God in bearing children here on earth.  We were taught the laws of chastity and marriage and “to multiply and replenish the earth” in order to fulfill “God’s work and glory in bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”  This is what God does as a creator.

The Lord Jesus, the Son of God , came to earth to teach us and show by example the way we must follow and become in order to redeem us from our sins. He knew we would make mistakes and that it would take a God, or son of God, to be able to pay the price for our sins, which He did for us!  “God is not the author of confusion “and “our ways are not God’s ways”, but we are His children and must obey His laws; and if not, we will pay a price.  As always, we have our free agency and the power to choose.

In today’s world, there is a tendency to ignore and even deny God’s existence and to choose evil versus good, which anyone can do.  That doesn’t mean that He isn’t still there!  “The natural man is an enemy to God.” It takes effort and good choices and work in order to do good. God has always shown to us those things we must do in order to return to live with Him once again.  He taught Adam and Eve and has spoken to us through His prophets over time about those sacred things and His plan of life.  He gave us the Ten Commandments through Moses and spoke through other prophets.  Jesus Christ was born and came to fulfill those commandments and we now must follow His words and laws that He gave us.

the familyWe have been promised all that God has with posterity and the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob through our various lineages of which we were born.  Our lineage is important and our posterity will derive us blessings.  Though God separated us into twelve tribes and confounded our languages at the time of the Tower of Babel, it was all done for a wise purpose.  God has not forgotten us but remembered each of us and His various tribes that He gave His words and promises to and commanded them to be recorded as with The Bible and The Book of Mormon.  He will soon gather all the tribes together once again along with their records which have been hidden up to come forth.  Jesus will also be returning once again.

God has continually told us that we can all return to heaven after we die  to come forth after the resurrection to be judged of our works.   He also has told us that, “In my house are many mansions.” “There is a glory like unto the stars, the moon and the sun.  So also is the resurrection.”  We will live in one of His mansions above of which laws we are able to live, or in everlasting darkness; hell.

the family

Now the question:

So, have you prepared yourself to dwell with God once again?  “The next world?”  Have you read His words and listened to His prophets so that you know those things that you must do while here on earth in order to achieve the highest degree of glory In His Kingdom after this life?  We are to follow Jesus’s example and with faith, repentance, and baptism by one holding the authority from Jesus, (children under the age of 8 years of age are innocent and have no need to be baptized), and to receive the Holy Ghost.  There are also sacred covenants that the Lord’s people take upon themselves in The House of the Lord and have since the beginning of time.  These are most important promises between you and God.  This knowledge has always been upon the earth since Adam and Eve.

the family

These truths are not secret but sacred and are available today but you must be worthy of receiving them.  They are performed in the Holy Temples or The House of The Lord.  Without them, you will not be able to return to live in the Celestial Kingdom, the highest kingdom of Heaven where God dwells, without them.  Yes, God has prepared other kingdoms for those who cannot or are not willing to live the higher laws yet  promises that you will be happy. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9

Some records from the Bible with many precious parts have been taken out of it and were lost from the Bible during the time of Constantine about 3-400 AD.  The Lord knew this would happen and “will not be frustrated”.   Thus, He had the tribes in various parts of the world record His words as He visited them after He was resurrected.  These records with those missing truths will come forth before we are to be judged.

Again, it is WE, who must choose.  God’s blessings are available to ALL, if they but seek them, learn them, and live His laws and keep His Commandments.

THIS IS WHAT WE EACH SHOULD BE SEEKING TO LEARN AND PREPARED TO LIVE!

the family

We have now moved into another year and find ourselves looking deep within our hearts, minds, souls, and mirrors as we set new goals, commit to new promises and make New Year’s Resolutions!

In doing so, we think about what is most needed, most desired and most important to us.  We want to improve our lives, our living conditions and experience those things that bring us the most happiness.  We also think about certain individuals that we wish to spend more time with and to do fun and exciting things together exeriencing the best of life.  So basically, we make a list of to do’s and not to do’s for the coming year.  It is that process of making priorities and choices that I wish to discuss with you here.

Scarcely an hour of the day goes by but what we are called the familyuponto make choices of one sort or another. Some are trivial, some more far-reaching. Some will make no difference in the big picture of things, and others will make all the difference in the world.  Choices all come with consequences and fall into three categories:  the right of choice, the responsbility of choice, and the results of choice.

We should always try to make the right choices and fix any wrong choices we may make. Each of us were born with all the tools necessary to make correct choices and with a concience, education, experiences, wisdom, and a spirit within us to help us decide and choose well.

the familyIn our journey through life we will encounter forks and turnings in the road but we cannot afford the luxury of a detour from which we may never return.  In today’s world there are forces of good but also forces of evil that may pacify and lull us into carnal the famiylsecurity saying there is no wrong . . . which can lead us carefully down to misery!  Should we ever find ourselves in that situation, we must decide and ask ourself if it is a promise of momentary pleasure that urges our passions or is it the pressure of your peers?  It is then that you need to have the courage to say no, the courage to say yes, knowing that decisions do determine destiny.

The best way to deal with those things is to decide right now what choices you will make and to not deviate from your goals that you choose.  If we then make the wrong choices, we have no one to blame but ourselves.  We all have made incorrect choices. If we have not already corrected such choices, this is a good time and there is a way to do so.  The process is called repentance where you can make your way back to good grace and find the sweet peace and joy that comes with the miracle of forgiveness.  A scripture remind us that, “Man is that he might have joy”. (That is for women, also!)

the familyWe are living in the best of times when so many options and choices are available to us.  We must prepare to meet the challenges of today by becoming good people, educated, and trained in skills that can provide financial income to do what ever your dreams are in life.  You must be strong physically and take good care of your body and mind.  Talk good talk and think good thoughts!  ”You become what you think about!”

We need to enjoy all that is good in life to search and find that someone special that will be your best friend and partner in life with a committment to love, marry, and raise a family together.  You can make it by enduring to the end, and being of one heart and mind and of one purpose.  In making choices of this nature, it requires a spiritual understanding of who you are, why you are here and where you are going.  We are not here by accident!  God has a great “plan of life” that He prepared for His children, of which we are!  The greatness of this world did not come about because we are so smart and clever. It is because God loves His children and has prepared this world for us so that we can experience and learn to become more like Him.

the familySo go and start today, if you already haven’t.  Ponder and pray for inspiration that you may choose the direction you wish and find happiness.  It will take work.  Nothing good comes easy!  An education, a career, a family, they all come with hard work!

Be careful not to be deceived.  Today there are so many conspiring men and works of darkness and temptations with offers to get rich quick, to live now and pay later, telling you that there is nothing wrong with living together recklessly and experiencing all there is in life.  When you face those things and choices, you must be strong and realize who you are listening to and to whom you trust!

There are opposites in all things!  Good and bad, right and wrong, male and female, pleasure and pain!  Take the higher way, the proven way, the stronger way because,

“The weak things of the world shall come forth and break down the mighty and strong ones, that man should not counsel his fellow man, neither trust in the arm of flesh” (D&C 1:19).

To rephrase that warning: even though you may be learned in the ways of the world, don’t forget the power of God.  “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

Please do not misunderstand me.  We need to prepare for worthy work to do. Yes, we do need to do our work well, whatever we choose to do in life. We need to be able to render significant service as well as spending time enjoying life.

And before we can achieve that competence, we need an education. With us, education is a religious responsibility. The glory of God really is intelligence (see D&C 93:36).  And, the learning of man has its limitations. Sometimes, the combined learning of many experts cannot be applied when we need it most. We have to place our trust in the Lord as we work towards our ultimate priorities and highest destinies as mortal beings.

We know that a doctor’s ultimate destination is not in the hospital.

For a lawyer, it is not in the courtroom.

For a jet pilot, it is not in the cockpit of a Boeing 747.

Each person’s chosen occupation is only a means to an end; it is not an end in itself.

The end for which each of us should strive is to be the person that you can become—the person who God wants you to be. The day will come when your professional career will end. The career that you will have labored so hard to achieve—the work that will have supported you and your family—will one day be behind you.  Then you will have learned this great lesson:

Much more important than what you do for a living…

is what kind of person you have become.

the family

When you leave this frail existence, what you have become will matter most. Attributes such as “faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, [and] diligence” (D&C 4:6) will all be weighed in the Lord’s balance.

From time to time, ask yourself these questions:

“Am I ready to meet my Maker?”

“Am I worthy of all the blessings He has in store for His faithful children?”

“Have I remained faithful to my promises and covenants?”

“Have I qualified for the greatest of all God’s blessings—the blessing of eternal life?” (see

D&C 14:7).

the family

Those who cherish their faith in God—those who trust in Him—have been given this scriptural promise:  “Let no man glory in man, but rather let him glory in God. … These shall dwell in the presence of God and his Christ forever and ever” (D&C 76:61–62).

May that be the ultimate resolution and destiny for each of us in 2013 and beyond!

May God bless you and your family,

Alan Osmond

George Carlin – “We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.”

By on Dec 20 in Blog tagged , , , , , | Comments Off

A wonderful Message by George Carlin:

George CarlinThe paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and

smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space.

We’ve done larger things, but not better things. We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.  We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.  We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.  These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent. Remember, to say, “I love you” to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Isn’t it amazing that the George Carlin – gross and mouthy comedian of the 70′s and 80′s – could write something so very eloquent…. and so very appropriate post 9-11.

It’s a product and the purpose of life.  Let’s all learn from this at younger ages.

For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things.

If not so, .. righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad.

Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

And if ye shall say there is no law,
ye shall also say there is no sin.

If ye shall say there is no sin,
ye shall also say there is no righteousness.

And if there be no righteousness,
there be no happiness.

And if there be no righteousness nor happiness,
there be no punishment nor misery.

And if these things are not there is no God.

And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away.

But behold, when the time cometh that they shall dwindle in unbelief, after they have received so great blessings from the hand of the Lord—having a knowledge of the creation of the earth, and all men, knowing the great and marvelous works of the Lord from the creation of the world; having power given them to do all things by faith; having all the commandments from the beginning, and having been brought by his infinite goodness into this precious land of promise—

Behold, I say, if the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the true Messiah, their Redeemer and their God, behold, the judgments of him that is just shall rest upon them.

Have you ever wondered why similar spiritual feelings permeate your soul whether you are reading the prayerful words of the Hebrew military commander Joshua . . . or General Washington? Or why your eyes get equally misty, and your heart similarly joyous, whether you are singing Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing . . . or the The Star Spangled Banner? Yes, you know it is a “choice land” given by God, but have you ever considered that perhaps there is a deeper connection — even deeper than you ever imagined — between Heaven and America?

Open your eyes to this deeper connection and learn how and why ancient prophets — from Jacob (Israel), Joseph, Daniel, Jeremiah and Isaiah — foresaw the United States and knew of its divine ordination. Besides the advent of the Messiah, there were few things that almost all ancient prophets saw. America was one of them!

More astonishing, perhaps, is the idea that the fathers of this nation — from the Pilgrims to the revolutionaries, to the patriots of the Civil War — knew they had been seen by the ancients!

Why else did the early settlers insist they were the “New Israel?” Why was George Washington’s scripture of choice an Old Testament prophecy about the gospel destiny of America? Why did John Adams seek a “Restoration,” and why did Jefferson directly prophecy that it would occur shortly after his death and that it would land upon the foundation of the Constitution? Why (and how) did Abraham Lincoln, like a prophet of old, fulfill ancient and modern prophecy? And how did God prepare him for the work he accomplished. Learn why history has repeated itself in the founding of latter-day Israel, and why the Founding Fathers felt such a profound connection (in life and death) to “temple” worship?

These are but samples that reveal the true nature and purpose of America. Other evidences include symbolic images on our dollar bill, miracles in war, a prophet’s warning, a president’s prayer, scriptures with cryptic meaning hiding in plain sight — pieces, clues, words and symbols that actually fit perfectly together.  You may say, “How did I not see all this before?”

The key to assembling the pieces of unrest and in solving the puzzle, and to understanding the miracles that are found in an ancient promise from the God who created this nation is that there was and is The American Covenant.
