It was organized in 1954 by George Virl Osmond (1917-2007) and Olive May Davis (1925-2004)–the parents of the famous Osmond Singers of Utah. Today, the OFO conducts genealogical research and publicizes historical information about the ancestors and relatives of George Virl Osmond and Olive May Davis, and places such information freely online for its worldwide audience at: www.osmondfamily.org.

Donny Osmond Finally Meets 4th Cousin In Manchester, England
The Osmond families are searching for their relatives!
Donny Osmond finally met up with Simon Collier of England! Simon is Donny’s, Marie’s and the Osmond Brother’s 4th cousin and a direct descendant from Thomas Lythgoe and Esther Wilcock on his mother’s ‘Davis’ side of the family.
Simon (is a police officer in England) and his wife and two daughters met Donny on January 28th in Manchester, England.

”Turning The Hearts Of The Children To The Fathers”
“And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children
to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
Malachi 4:6
This work that Elijah the Prophet refers to is what we do in our Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We seal families together for all eternity. God’s work and glory is “to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man”. Our Heavenly Father loves us and has great things prepared for us as only a good Father would do. How Great Thou Art! We must trust in Him and do the work He has instructed us to do and to accomplish.
We are all God’s children. Sometimes we get so busy and involved in the things of this world that we forget that there is more to life and that we will live forever. We believe that we will be together again as families after this life as well. Elijah restored the sealing powers to the earth so that our families can be together for all eternity as God’s Plan of Life was designed.

We love finding our relatives and seeing those among you who are our cousins. It is also inspiring to remember and read about our pioneer ancestors who showed great faith and hope as we learn of their struggles and successes and as they risked their lives forging rivers and seas, mountains and plains, driven by their faith in God and seeking truth and freedom and a better life for their families.
We are all doing the same thing today as we face the unknown and unexpected searching for the same freedoms and important things of life but in a much faster, extremely technical, and more violent and turbulent world. There is peace in store for us all though because just as Elijah returned, so will our Savior Jesus Christ. When Jesus returns, He will live with us for a thousand years in peace as our Lord and Savior.
He is “The Way”.
One day, Adam and Eve, with angelic assistance, will present to Jesus Christ a book or record containing the linked genealogy of their posterity and family history of all of God’s children that ever lived in this world. This is what Elijah was talking about when he talked about turning the hearts of the children to the fathers. We are to remember our forefathers and mothers. Just as the internet “links” certain items together, with the power and spirit of Elijah, our families can be “linked” together also. This is why genealogy and family history is the fastest growing hobby today. We were born into a family. We will die and be remembered as a family. We are being watched over from on high because we are God’s family.
This is why I enjoy publishing works that can help Strengthen The Family. .

Family history moments: Family’s focus
For decades the Osmonds have sung and performed for people around the world. In July 2008, all nine siblings of the famous Osmond family — Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie and Jimmy — performed together with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during two evenings of Pioneer Day celebrations in the LDS Conference Center. However, even when performing in different parts of the world, this large family has always taken time to focus on families, including trying to locate distant cousins and performing temple work for their deceased ancestors and relatives.
The Osmonds’ love of family history and temple work was instilled in them when they were young. Their parents, George and Olive Osmond, contributed countless hours toward genealogy and temple work, and involved their children in this “eternal work” as much as possible. As the mother of the world-famous singing family, Olive Osmond was constantly on the go. Yet, wherever she went she was continually answering and sending family history letters, compiling and directing genealogical research work, devising and suggesting new ways to enter family data into computer programs, and constantly encouraging relatives and her worldwide audience to become more involved in genealogy and family history.
As Alan Osmond has said, “My mother taught her children how to do family research, and we published our family history in several magazines and on various websites.” In 2008 the Osmonds traveled around the world on their 50th Anniversary World Tour, and according to Alan, “We would greet the audiences from the stage as, ‘Hi, Cousin! How Are We Related?’”

My brother Donny Osmond has likewise stated, “I inherited the love of genealogy from my mother and have fond memories of doing research with her and sharing our ‘finds’ together. I know that my mother has now been united with those ancestors she became familiar with while doing her genealogy work.”
Today, Donny supports a worldwide Osmond Research and Extraction Project, while Alan oversees Osmond-related temple work and maintains a family history website at www.osmond.com.
And recently, Jimmy Osmond — while performing in England — took the time to dedicate the grave of his great-great-grandfather, George Osmond Sr.
Indeed, it can be said that the dedication of the Osmond siblings to family history and temple work started when they were very young, for they were taught by their parents the importance and blessings that come from being involved in such “eternal work.”

In the great vision in the Kirtland Temple, Elijah the prophet appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and committed the keys of temple work and the sealing power into Joseph Smith’s hands. This fulfilled Malachi’s prophecy that Elijah would be sent ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, lest the whole earth be smitten with a curse’ (see Doctrine & Covenants 110:14–15).
So what does this mean? To turn our hearts to our fathers is to search out the names of our deceased ancestors and to perform the saving ordinances in the temple for them. This will forge a continuous chain between us and our forefathers eventually all the way back to Father Adam and Mother Eve. (From The Phenomenon That Is You by James E. Faust, Ensign, Nov. 2003, 55)
The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us that the celestial family organization will be “one that is complete,” that is, “an organization linked from father and mother and children of one generation, to the father and mother and children of the next generation, thus expanding and spreading out down to the end of time.” 10
