Well, at least The Osmond Family’s website for Family History has moved! .

We moved The Osmond Family’s website for Family History to:
www.osmondfamily.org, and is now up and running! It contains more up-to-date information about their Osmond and Davis family history than any other site or source online. We hope that you all will take a moment to inform family, friends and others–through your various social media and website links as well as by word of mouth around the world so they can learn more about the Osmond and Davis family heritage.
The Osmond Family Organization (OFO)is an ancestral family organization. It was organized in 1954 by George Virl Osmond (1917-2007) and Olive May Davis (1925-2004)–the parents of the famous Osmond Singers of Utah. Today, the OFO conducts genealogical research and publicizes historical information about the ancestors and relatives of George Virl Osmond and Olive May Davis, and places such information freely online for its worldwide audience at: www.osmondfamily.org.
Donny Osmond finally met up with Simon Collier of England! Simon is Donny’s, Marie’s and the Osmond Brother’s 4th cousin and a direct descendant from Thomas Lythgoe and Esther Wilcock on his mother’s ‘Davis’ side of the family.
Simon (is a police officer in England) and his wife and two daughters met Donny on January 28th in Manchester, England.
The Osmond’s Genealogists, Clayton and Ethel Brough, have updated newfound relatives at www.osmond.org. Are You Related To The Osmonds?
(Note: This is only a list of relatives we have found so far! Help us find more!)
An update:
”And also Elijah, unto whom I have committed the keys of the power of turning the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers, that the whole earth may not be smitten with a curse.” D&C 27:9
The Osmond Family Genealogist and Researcher, Clayton Brough and his wife Ethel, just sent us a copy of our Genealogy Records on a fan shaped layout that my Mother, Olive Osmond, created years ago. This chart form is now being used world wide and is being produced by TreeSeek.com.
If you see familiar names think you might be connected, that we might be related, you can go to our website at www.osmond.org and click on Surnames. If your name starts with the letter T, click on “T”, and all names that we have found beginning with ‘T’ that we have found so far, will show on the screen. Do the same for other names.
We are MOST interested in finding all of our relatives. So if it is not there but you have records of others, including yourself, that might be related, please send it to me at alan@thefamily.com.
Family History or Genealogy is one of the biggest and fastest growing hobbies in the world!
”Turning The Hearts Of The Children To The Fathers”
“And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children
to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.” Malachi 4:6
This work that Elijah the Prophet refers to is what we do in our Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We seal families together for all eternity. God’s work and glory is “to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man”. Our Heavenly Father loves us and has great things prepared for us as only a good Father would do. How Great Thou Art! We must trust in Him and do the work He has instructed us to do and to accomplish.
We are all God’s children. Sometimes we get so busy and involved in the things of this world that we forget that there is more to life and that we will live forever. We believe that we will be together again as families after this life as well. Elijah restored the sealing powers to the earth so that our families can be together for all eternity as God’s Plan of Life was designed.
Please visit our website at http://osmond.org and see if we are related. We love finding our relatives and seeing those among you who are our cousins. It is also inspiring to remember and read about our pioneer ancestors who showed great faith and hope as we learn of their struggles and successes and as they risked their lives forging rivers and seas, mountains and plains, driven by their faith in God and seeking truth and freedom and a better life for their families.
We are all doing the same thing today as we face the unknown and unexpected searching for the same freedoms and important things of life but in a much faster, extremely technical, and more violent and turbulent world. There is peace in store for us all though because just as Elijah returned, so will our Savior Jesus Christ. When Jesus returns, He will live with us for a thousand years in peace as our Lord and Savior.
He is “The Way”.
One day, Adam and Eve, with angelic assistance, will present to Jesus Christ a book or record containing the linked genealogy of their posterity and family history of all of God’s children that ever lived in this world. This is what Elijah was talking about when he talked about turning the hearts of the children to the fathers. We are to remember our forefathers and mothers. Just as the internet “links” certain items together, with the power and spirit of Elijah, our families can be “linked” together also. This is why genealogy and family history is the fastest growing hobby today. We were born into a family. We will die and be remembered as a family. We are being watched over from on high because we are God’s family.
This is why I enjoy publishing works that can help Strengthen The Family. .
Through family history work, we can learn about our ancestors and increase our love for them. We can be inspired by their stories of courage and faith. We can pass that legacy on to our children. All of the family history endeavors are directed to the need to form a “welding link—between the fathers and the children” (D&C 128: 18).
We are participants in Heavenly Father’s plan, and our eternal experience can be divided into three main parts:
Premortal life,
Mortal life,
Life after death.
As we come to understand the plan, we find answers to questions asked by so many: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go after this life?
Premortal Life
Before we were born on the earth, we lived in the presence of our Heavenly Father as one of His spirit children. In this premortal existence, we attended a council with Heavenly Father’s other spirit children. At that council, Heavenly Father presented His great plan of happiness (see Abraham 3: 22-26).
In harmony with the plan of happiness, the premortal Jesus Christ, the Firstborn Son of the Father in the spirit, covenanted to be the Savior (see Moses 4: 2; Abr. 3: 27). Those who followed Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were permitted to come to the earth to experience mortality and progress toward eternal life. Lucifer, another spirit son of God, rebelled against the plan and “sought to destroy the agency of man” (Moses 4: 3). He became Satan, and he and his followers were cast out of heaven and denied the privileges of receiving a physical body and experiencing mortality (see Moses 4: 4; Abraham 3: 27-28).
Throughout our premortal lives, we developed our identity and increased our spiritual capabilities. Blessed with the gift of agency, we made important decisions, such as the decision to follow Heavenly Father’s plan. These decisions affected our life then and now. We grew in intelligence and learned to love the truth, and we prepared to come to the earth, where we could continue to progress.
Mortal Life
We are now experiencing mortal life. Our spirits are united with our bodies, giving us opportunities to grow and develop in ways that were not possible in premortal life. This part of our existence is a time of learning in which we can prove ourselves, choose to come unto Christ, and prepare to be worthy of eternal life. It is also a time when we can help others find the truth and gain a testimony of the plan of salvation.
Life after Death
When we die, our spirits will enter the spirit world and await the resurrection. At the time of the resurrection, our spirit and body will reunite, and we will be judged and received into a kingdom of glory. The glory we inherit will depend on the depth of our conversion and our obedience to the Lord’s commandments (see Kingdoms of Glory). It will depend on the manner in which we have “received the testimony of Jesus” (D&C 76: 51; see also D&C 76: 74, 79, 101).
Blessings through Knowledge of the Plan
A testimony of the plan of salvation can give us hope and purpose as we wrestle with the challenges of life. We can find reassurance in the knowledge that we are children of God and that we lived in His presence before being born on the earth. We can find meaning in our present life, knowing that our actions during mortality influence our eternal destiny. With this knowledge, we can base important decisions on eternal truths rather than on the changing circumstances of life. We can continually improve our relationships with family members, rejoicing in the promise that our families can be eternal. We can find joy in our testimonies of the Atonement and the Lord’s commandments, ordinances, covenants, and doctrines, knowing that “he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his reward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come” (D&C 59: 23).
We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.
Suzanne and I invite you to visit our Family History Site to see “Where We Came From” . . . and to see IF WE ARE RELATED!
For decades the Osmonds have sung and performed for people around the world. In July 2008, all nine siblings of the famous Osmond family — Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie and Jimmy — performed together with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during two evenings of Pioneer Day celebrations in the LDS Conference Center. However, even when performing in different parts of the world, this large family has always taken time to focus on families, including trying to locate distant cousins and performing temple work for their deceased ancestors and relatives.
The Osmonds’ love of family history and temple work was instilled in them when they were young. Their parents, George and Olive Osmond, contributed countless hours toward genealogy and temple work, and involved their children in this “eternal work” as much as possible. As the mother of the world-famous singing family, Olive Osmond was constantly on the go. Yet, wherever she went she was continually answering and sending family history letters, compiling and directing genealogical research work, devising and suggesting new ways to enter family data into computer programs, and constantly encouraging relatives and her worldwide audience to become more involved in genealogy and family history.
As Alan Osmond has said, “My mother taught her children how to do family research, and we published our family history in several magazines and on various websites.” In 2008 the Osmonds traveled around the world on their 50th Anniversary World Tour, and according to Alan, “We would greet the audiences from the stage as, ‘Hi, Cousin! How Are We Related?’”
We have since linked to our Osmond Family History site at http://osmond.com and have some SURNAMES that you might recognize and be related to us!
If you think we are related or might be, send me an email with your contact information HERE: alan@thefamily.com
My brother Donny Osmond has likewise stated, “I inherited the love of genealogy from my mother and have fond memories of doing research with her and sharing our ‘finds’ together. I know that my mother has now been united with those ancestors she became familiar with while doing her genealogy work.”
Today, Donny supports a worldwide Osmond Research and Extraction Project, while Alan oversees Osmond-related temple work and maintains a family history website at www.osmond.com.
And recently, Jimmy Osmond — while performing in England — took the time to dedicate the grave of his great-great-grandfather, George Osmond Sr.
Indeed, it can be said that the dedication of the Osmond siblings to family history and temple work started when they were very young, for they were taught by their parents the importance and blessings that come from being involved in such “eternal work.”

We are a journal-writing family, and it seemed a shame not to use them in a productive way. So every Monday evening, one of our goals is to read from a family member’s journal. When each of our children was born, we started baby journals, recording our thoughts and aspirations for them. When they were old enough to participate, they kept their own journals. With everyone’s contributions over the years, we have a lot of journal entries to choose from. Each week we share excerpts from a different family member’s journal. Sometimes we share recent entries; others are from years past. We are always careful to not share sensitive information. Each family member may choose what to share.
If your family hasn’t kept journals, you might see if other relatives, such as grandparents, will let you read selections from theirs. Hopefully you can encourage your family to begin keeping journals. Our children enjoy hearing about the funny things they said when they were younger and the lessons they have learned along the way. Writing in our journals is a much anticipated activity in our family. We know we’re not just writing for our future posterity. We are recording our thoughts and life experiences to benefit our family now.
My parents, George Virl Osmond Sr. and Olive May Davis Osmond were married on December 1, 1944. This is a note from Olive’s journal about their first Christmas.
GEORGE WROTE ON DRESSER SCARF
“I had a lace-trimmed beige dresser scarf on the dresser and one morning I noticed George had written on it with a pencil, “I love you, honey!” I immediately embroidered it with red floss.
For our first Christmas we bought a small little tree and made the decorations ourselves. Because of the war there were no electric lights available. For trimming, we cut cellophane strips, twisted them in the middle to make bows, crushed some old broken ornaments to make our own “glitter” and glued it to each end of the bows. The tree was really cute and we had fun being creative – - and practical.”
Olive Davis Osmond
(From the journal of my Mother, Olive Davis Osmond)
As we start out another new year, lets make a new year’s resolution to write our feelings and experiences in a journal so that we have a history of where we have been and where we wish to go. Your grandkids will love you for it!
“The Bible is a history of families. The history of Israel begins with the family of Abraham. He is highly esteemed of the Lord as a father and teaches his children properly.” Gen. 18: 17-19
