“But with some I am not well pleased, for they will not open their mouths, but they hide the talent which I have given unto them, because of the fear of man. Wo unto such, for mine anger is kindled against them. D&C 60:2

“Dehydration affects all people, and staying properly hydrated is just as important for those who work all day at a computer as it is for marathon runners, who can lose up to 8 percent of their body weight as water when they compete.”
The young women experienced mild dehydration which caused headaches, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. They also perceived tasks as more difficult when slightly dehydrated, although there was no substantive reduction in their cognitive abilities.
Investigators are uncertain why women and men are so adversely affected by mild dehydration. One possibility is that neurons in the brain detect dehydration. These neurons may then signal parts of the brain regulating mood.By Alan on Feb 15 in Blog tagged brain, energy, mind, nap, sleep, smart | Comments Off
Instead of being viewed as lazy or slackers, workers who catch 40 winks in the afternoon may be gaining a bit more respect — or at least a bit more understanding. Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, found that napping an hour can dramatically restore and boost your brain power. Amazingly, they found a nap can actually make you smarter.
On the other hand, the more hours we spend awake, the more sluggish our minds become. These findings should give pause to college students who pull “all nighters” cramming for finals. The new study found this practice decreases the ability to learn by nearly 40 percent.
“Sleep not only rights the wrong of prolonged wakefullness, but at a neurocognitive level, it moves you beyond where you were before you took a nap,” Matthew Walker, an assistant professor of psychology at UC Berkeley and lead investigator, said in a statement.
In the study, 39 healthy young adults were divided into two groups — nap and no-nap. Both groups were given rigorous learning tasks at noon to stress the hippocampus, a region of the brain that helps store fact-based memories. Results in both groups were similar.
At 2 p.m., the first group napped for 90 minutes while the no-nap group stayed awake. At 6 p.m., both groups were subjected to a new series of learning exercises. Those who napped performed markedly better and actually improved their ability to learn.
Walker said researchers believe sleep is needed to clear the brain’s short-term memory storage and make room for new information.
“It’s as though the e-mail inbox in your hippocampus is full and, until you sleep and clear out those fact e-mails, you’re not going to receive any more mail. It’s just going to bounce until you sleep and move it into another folder,” Walker said.
In addition to boosting your brain power, one study showed that napping can reduce the risk of a fatal heart attack by 37 percent.
Use these five tips for an effective, refreshing afternoon nap:
• The best naptime is 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. when you experience a natural dip in energy.
• Get comfortable. If you have a couch or comfy chair, use them, says Salary.com. Otherwise, stash a yoga mat and pillow behind your desk.
• Draw the shades and wear a sleep mask to stimulate melatonin, a sleep-inducing hormone, advises Body Ecology.
• Your body temperature may fall during sleep, so cover yourself with a light blanket.
• Set an alarm to make sure you don’t oversleep.

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of every day.
2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.
4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.
5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world’s largest private employer, and most speak English.
6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.
7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.
8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.
9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.
10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.
11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth’s population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)
12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.
You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.
To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature, It is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:
A. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 235 years to get it right and it is broke.
B. Social Security was established in 1935.
You have had 75 years to get it right and it is broke.
C. Fannie Mae was established in 1938.
You have had 72 years to get it right and it is broke.
D. War on Poverty started in 1964.
You have had 46 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more.
E. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 45 years to get it right and they are broke.
F. Freddie Mac was established in 1970.
You have had 40 years to get it right and it is broke.
G. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before.
You had 33 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

As a Marriage and Family Counselor, I was particularly touched a few years ago by a plea from a client who sent me a note designating herself furtively as “Lady In Distress”. She said she loved her husband dearly, and appreciated so much how hard he worked for the good of their family. But she had become concerned about what she called the disintegration of their family time. It seems each night dad would arrive home at 6:00 and exhaustedly plop himself in front of the television to watch the news. She’d have dinner ready promptly at 6:30 after which he’d head back to his Lazy Boy loungechair in front of the TV. There he’d grab his remote and vegetate nightly. Often he’d doze off and snore loud enough to make the cats leave the room, thoroughly annoyed.. Sometimes he’d chat with the kids if they happened to enter his domain to ask something, but was never willing to leave the general area…and certainly never willing to leave the house.

So how ’bout you, dads? Give up a half hour of tv each night? You never know. It could be the beginning of something really great in your life….and in your family’s also. What have you got to lose?

Q= What is Light and Truth?
A= Light= the force that activates intellect! Light is an ever present life inducing power that manifests energy that abides in all things. Light gives life to all things and is the Law by which all things are governed!
• • •
D&C 88:11-13 tells us,
11 And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings;
12 Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space—
13 The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things.
67 And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things.
• • •
D&C 50:24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
Yes, Truth is knowledge!
Light expands us so we can receive more truth.
Obedience is required to receive more Light!
Truth & Knowledge= 1. Obedience, 2. Light (Capacitating Power) 3. Truth (Enligtenment!
Q= What happens to our children or ancestors who never had the chance to hear the Gospel Truth?
A= D&C 137: 1, 7, 10. Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be cheirs of the celestial kingdom of God;
• • •
10 And I also beheld that all children who die before they arrive at the years of accountability are saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven.
• • •
D&C 137: 1, 7, 10
1 The heavens were opened upon us, and I beheld the celestial kingdom of God, and the glory thereof, whether in the body or out I cannot tell.
7 Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;
• • •
Q= “Because Jesus died for us, we all are going to Heaven.”
A= Yes, but, in Heaven are many “mansions”. By our “Works” and in keeping the principles and laws of God, shall we receive our various Glory or Mansion in Heaven.
• • •
D&C 101: 65
65 Therefore, I must gather together my people, according to the parable of the wheat and the tares, that the wheat may be secured in the garners to possess eternal life, and be crowned with celestial glory, when I shall come in the kingdom of my Father to reward every man according as his work shall be;
• • •
D&C 105: 4-5
4 And are not united according to the union required by the law of the celestial kingdom;
5 And Zion cannot be built up unless it is by the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom; otherwise I cannot receive her unto myself.
• • •
Q= I’ve been told that Heaven consists of a Celestial world, or Sun, A Telestial World, or Moon, and a Terrestrial world, or star. So also is the Resurrection.
A= God is governed by laws. So are we. We cannot go to a “higher” glory if we cannot live the laws of that Glory! That is why in this earth live, the more knowledge (or Truth) and light we attain, it will rise with us in the resurrection!
• • •
Moses 2: 16
16 And I, God, made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the greater light was the sun, and the lesser light was the moon; and the stars also were made even according to my word.
• • •
1 Cor. 15: 41
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
• • •
We each will go to Heaven and to a deserving Glory based upon our Works and the Laws we are willing to live!
Why is it that sometimes only one of a city, or household, receives the Gospel? It has been made known unto me that it is because the righteous dead who have now received the Gospel in the Spirit World (after death), are exercising themselves, and in answers to prayers, Elders of the Church are sent to the homes of their posterity that the Gospel might be taught to them and through their righteousness they might be privileged to have a descendant in the flesh do the work for their kindred dead! (Temple Work) Elder Melvin J Ballard.
