The Way Newsletter – “Jesus Is The Way”

The Way – Newsletter

January 2011

“May we have the Faith to become a better people and make this a better world this coming year.”

Faith is a principle of action and power. Whenever we work towards a worthy goal, we exercise faith.  If we have faith, we hope for things which are not seen, which are true”.

We are living in a time where there is much wickedness going on, when “conspiring men” are seeking for power and riches and to rule much like the way Satan proposed before this world was which caused a ‘war in heaven’.  Well, that war continues on earth today.

Though we know not what will happen in this ever changing world of ours, God does, and the end has been foretold in the scriptures.  If we have the Faith that we will be led from on high and be successful by taking action as individuals and in standing up for those things that are right and choosing those things in which we believe, just like in days past, The Lord will show us ‘The Way’ !

I have chosen several scriptures to share that can help us learn from the past and to use as a guide for our future.
“In order for faith to lead us to success, we must be centered in the Lord Jesus Christ with a knowledge that we are striving to live according to His will.  Having faith in Jesus Christ means relying completely on Him—trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. It includes believing His teachings. It means believing that even though we do not understand all things, He does. Because He has experienced all our pains, afflictions, and infirmities, He knows how to help us rise above our daily difficulties. He has “overcome the world” (John 16:33) and prepared the way for us to receive eternal life. He is always ready to help us as we remember His plea: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not” (D&C 6:36).

A new World Order is in the making which laws we will be forced to accept and live.  It is not uncommon for things like this to happen, as it has been tried as in times past.  The important thing we must do is to take a stand for those things in which we believe maintaining our values and principles and to raise our voices and choose the right way, and those things for which we stand.

History records, “For as their laws and their governments were established by the voice of the people, and they who chose evil were more numerous than they who chose good, therefore they were ripening for destruction, for the laws had become corrupted.”Helaman 5:2

Well, I believe that the majority of the voice of the people today want to choose good and are for less government and will stand for those basic freedoms our forefathers designed with the Constitution.

Let us remember the promises made to our forefathers who risked and gave their lives that we might live in freedom.  “And they did land upon the shore of the promised land. And when they had set their feet upon the shores of the promised land they bowed themselves down upon the face of the land, and did humble themselves before the Lord, and did shed tears of joy before the Lord, because of the multitude of his tender mercies over them. Ether 6:12

We have learned that History repeats itself.  George Bernard Shaw said, “If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must Man be of learning from experience.”   I say, that this may be true unless we choose from “the best of history”.  If history repeats itself, then let us learn from our History but only choose the good, as it can be used as a pattern for us to follow.

Scripture, or history records, “Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.” Psalms 115:11

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalms 118:8

“For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land.” Alma 37:44

“And I will come unto you, and if there be any among you that has a desire for freedom, yea, if there be even a spark of freedom remaining, behold I will stir up insurrections among you, even until those who have desires to usurp power and authority shall become extinct.” Alma 60:27

“I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.”  D&C 38:30

“And that law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me.” D&C 98:5

“And it came to pass that thousands did flock unto his standard, and did take up their swords in the defense of their freedom, that they might not come into bondage.” Alma 62:5

Many of the “swords” that we can use today, are those of our cutting ‘words and our actions’.  Let them “see” our good choices and actions by “opening our mouths”, standing true and faithful to our cause of freedom and the Lord will direct our path!

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world (money, power, pride) to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world (faith, hope, charity, prayer) to confound the things which are mighty;” 1 Corinthians 1:27

Let us never forget, The Lord, God led Moses and the children of Israel out of Egypt.  He led Noah and his family through the days of the flood. He led those that fled the destruction of Jerusalem to the Promised Land.  And, He will lead us to the land of Zion where Jesus will once again return to rule and reign for a thousand years of peace.

May we all say:

“O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.” 2 Nephi 4:34

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2

We must “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
May we put our trust in the Lord, humble ourselves and with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, and with pure hearts, keep God’s commandments for therein is a promise that He will guide and direct us until He joins us again!
This is a ‘Great and a Dreadful Day’.  Let’s choose the ‘Great’!
