Day 1 –  ARRIVE AT THE COLUMBUS, OHIO AIRPORT 

Day 2 –  HOPEWELL MOUNDS

After breakfast you’ll board our luxurious motor coach and wind your way south to the the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton, Ohio, this museum houses the famous “Holy Stones”, found in a Hopewell mound near Newark, Ohio.  These stones, inscribed with ancient Hebrew writings, demonstrate a North American connection to the Old World.  As we continue toward Newark, you’ll discover that this area is filled with the most extensive and monumental earthworks in the world, including the Great Circle and Great Octagon, built by the Hopewell Civilization.  They date between 150 AD and 250 AD, during the peaceful time following Christ’s visit.  Scientists have recently discovered embedded astronomical alignments proving this was a highly advanced civilization.  You’ll have a chance to ascend the 30 foot embankments and walk the ‘place of entrance’ of the Great Circle.  You’ll learn more as we discuss the ancient Hopewell Mound Builder civilization that inhabited this area during Book of Mormon times. We’ll spend the night near Newark, Ohio. (B) 

Day 3 – Friday  HOPEWELL MUSEUM – MOUND CITY – SEIP MOUND – FORT HILL – Serpent Mound

After breakfast, our first stop will be the Hopewell Museum at Mound City in Chillicothe, Ohio.  This restored Hopewell site features displays of artifacts of copper, silver, and stone that may have been made by Book of Mormon people.  You’ll continue through the Ohio River Valley, visiting ancient archaeological sites including Seip Mound, and Fort Hill, a Hopewell hilltop fortress with its ancient stones walls still visible.  You’ll see the world famous Serpent Mound with its mysterious coils forming astronomical alignments.  You’ll overnight in mid-Ohio.

Day 4 -  FORT ANCIENT – MIAMISBURG ADENA CULTURE MOUND
Today we journey to Fort Ancient, another hilltop fortress with miles of embankments and trenches before exploring the Miamisburg Adena Culture Mound. Then we’ll have some quality discussion time about this ancient civilization that has over 25 correlations to the Book of Mormon, as we continue on toward Decatur, IN where we will spend the night. (B)

Day 5 - ZELPH’S MOUND – ZARAHEMLA – DICKSON MOUNDS
After breakfast you’ll continue your journey, “roving over the plains of the Nephites” as the Prophet Joseph wrote to his sweetheart Emma while on Zion’s Camp march in 1835. Our first stop, Zelph’s Mound, is perched high upon a bluff above the Illinois River. A short climb takes you to the site where Joseph Smith had a vision of a righteous Lamanite warrior named Zelph, who was buried in this mound after dying in the final struggle between the Nephites and Lamanites. Then you’ll cross the Mississippi River to Montrose, near the place the Prophet Joseph said was the site of Zarahemla, as indicated by the Lord in D&C 125:3. Now visiting the great Dickson Mounds. Ending the day with Nauvoo,  majestic Temple, high on a bluff, symbolically facing the west. You will have time to attend a Temple session, that evening if you wish.(B,)

Day 6 -  CAHOKIA – STONE FORT
Today we’ll discover the largest city in North America before European settlement, Cahokia, just outside of St. Louis. The museum is world class but the magnitude of Monks Mound, the largest earthen temple mound structure in North America is awe inspiring.  From there we’ll ride to Stone Fort, an ancient fortified hilltop with stone walls perched atop a bluff. We will be staying the night in Marion near Stone Fort. (B,)

Day 7- BIG SPRINGS

Today we’ll drive to see one of the wonders of North America, Big Springs, the proposed “Waters of Mormon” based on location, distance and description. Then drive back to St. Louis airport to catch your flight home. (B)

Nathan Osmond – Filling The Shoes of His Osmond Musical Heritage!

The Lord has commanded, “Seek learning, even by study and also by faith”.  He has counseled us to learn the gospel and to gain an understanding “of things both in heaven and in the earth, . . . that [we] may be prepared in all things”.

In addition to furthering our education through formal schooling, we can continue learning by reading, attending wholesome cultural events, visiting museums and historic sites, and observing the world around us.

I wish to share some thoughts having to do with education—specifically the education of our minds and hearts, for those are the instruments by which we obtain knowledge. Said the Lord, “Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart.”

I am awed by the great forces of knowledge represented in our time. Never before have so many been educated in the learning of the world. What a powerful thing it is—the intensive schooling of a large percentage of the youth of the world, who meet daily at the feet of instructors to garner knowledge from all the ages of man.

The extent of that knowledge is staggering. It encompasses the stars of the universe, the geology of the earth, the history of nations, the culture and language of peoples, the operation of governments, the laws of commerce, the behavior of the atom, the functions of the body, and the wonders of the mind.

With so much knowledge available, one would think that the world might well be near a state of perfection. Yet we are constantly made aware of the other side of the coin—of the sickness of society, of the contentions and troubles that bring misery into the lives of millions.

Each day we are made increasingly aware of the fact that life is more than science and mathematics, more than history and literature. There is need for another education, without which the substance of secular learning may lead only to destruction. I refer to the education of the heart, of the conscience, of the character, of the spirit—these indefinable aspects of our personalities which determine so certainly what we are and what we do in our relationships one with another.

The words of Solomon say: “With all thy getting get understanding.”

Understanding of what? Understanding of ourselves, of the purposes of life, of our relationship to God who is our Father, of the great divinely given principles that for centuries have provided the sinew of man’s real progress!

I desire to suggest that three principles be added to our vast store of secular knowledge to become cornerstones on which all of us may establish lives that will be fruitful, productive, and happy.

The first principle is gratitude, the second is virtue, the third is faith. I believe these are fundamental to the full development of every child of God.

Yes, that’s who we are!

 Suzanne and I are traveling to California to share with several others some personal stories and success that we have had with doTERRA Essential Oils.

I am enjoying my older years!  Suzanne and I are so much in love and live to see our sons and their families growing up and spending time with them.  Being a grandpa is a great season of my life.  Suzanne and I are also enjoying learning and doing things together that we never had the time to do while raising our eight sons.  We serve each week at one of one of our LDS Temples as ordinance workers.  When we see individuals and families come there to be married and sealed together as families for all eternity, it brings us great joy.

I always try to share things here that might be of interest to you and your family.  I do share openly some things of which I feel we as families need to be aware.  We are living in perilous times and we must be wise and choose well those things that can hurt or harm our families and to be prepared physically, mentally, socially, spiritually, and financially.

The family is God’s plan of life and we can enjoy this life more fully by learning and living the way that He has commanded.  Our ways are not always His ways but we can get closer to everlasting happiness by following the teachings of His Son, Jesus Christ.

OSMOND TO SPEAK IN VISALIA

VISALIA, CA Alan Osmond, of the singing Osmond Brothers, along with his wife, Suzanne, will be speaking in Visalia at a free seminar, “Reinventing Healthcare” on Tuesday, May 15 at 6:30pm in the 210 Assembly Room, 210 W. Center St.

Osmond, 62, was diagnosed with MS over 25 years ago, and will be sharing how he is dealing with the disease using natural, safe and effective methods. Osmond shares, “I am passionate about sharing with others that there are options out there. We’re not saying, don’t go to the doctor, doctors are very important and we value them. But there are treatment options that don’t involve taking chemicals with damaging side effects.”
