I have been really involved and busy this past week and am short on an article for tonight so I decided to just write to all of my friends.
This last weekend, I took my wife Suzanne and went up to Park City for the day and night as I met with the members of America’s Freedom Festival and discussed possibilities of next years events and Stadium of Fire, 2012.
(www.stadiumoffire.com) We talked about what we learned from last years events, what new ideas we had to bring to the table and brainstormed new ideas and talent possibilities. I didn’t forget Suzanne though as we all went to dinner and stayed in a wonderful cabin that night. She has been addressing envelopes for Alex and Jessica’s wedding which is coming right up! Here is a recent picture of them madly in love. You can see more at Alex’s Facebook Pages at https://www.facebook.com/alexosmond88
I have also been working on some music and trying to get my thinking on a creative track once again. I love to write and create songs with true feelings and messages of importance with emotion wrapped around it. I wrote Suzanne a poem this week just because I love her and I am having a good time.
Suzanne and I work at the Temple on Wednesdays as ordinance workers and then that evening after some dinner, we have been going to BYU to learn more about the writings of Isaiah in the Bible. Isaiah wrote in a style that included words and sayings that were tokens of ideas, thoughts and words that defined a category of meaning. It is hard to read sometimes but with a concentrated thought and a pondering effort with the help of the Spirit of Christ, I am better understanding Isaiah’s writings. Even Jesus quoted Isaiah. His writings also pertain to the last days that we are living and I am trying to grasp the meaning and significance of todays events that are upon us.
I also took the time to be with my grandkids often and am enjoying watching them grow up! My how big they are getting and they even communicate and share amazing ideas and share their music. Speaking of that, my son Tyler went on tour again starting in the Oregon area and will be traveling for a couple of months with the band, Desert Noises.
If you see him or are close to one of their concerts, please go and see them and let Tyler know that I love him. You can see and learn more about what he is doing at his Facebook website at: https://www.facebook.com/desertnoises?ref=ts
I am teaching Sunday School this Sunday so am studying for it and am involved in an emergency preparedness event for our Stake. In preparing for it I really must ask all of you to put some extra food, money, medicines and clothing away just in case there is an emergency of some sort. If you are prepared, you will not fear. Well, I have Michael and his family just arriving and Suzanne has cooked a great meal and fresh zuchinnii, cucumbers, watermelon and fresh sliced peaches for them. Yes, I had my share already! Michael and Beka went to see BYU’s first game and unfortunately they didn’t win. Mikes Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000207717506
Doug was on TV today promoting an event in Salt Lake City that he is hosting and emceeing. He is great at putting deals together and doing marketing. He also heads up a division of doTERRA essential Oils at work. (http://www.doteratory.com) He and Tiffany are so busy raising their kids and we love having them over to the house. Max is really agressive and getting into football.
Nathan has another hit single on the rise at #40 on the independent charts called, The Tailgate Song. His wife is so supportive and very involved with her three sons. He just recently finished the video and it should be out any time. His Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/NathanOsmondMusic
David has been producing a TV series called STARBIZ (www.starbiz.com) for BYU Television and it is just coming out. He developed the idea and has young talented artists who like to write music come to BYU and David and his team coach them and film them writing songs. They can win recording contracts and I think $10.000 if they win. David is a great producer as well as a musical artist. His Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/davidosmondmusic
My son Jon and his wife Laura just moved back from Washington D.C. where he serves as a tax expert for Price Waterhouse Cooper. He has two sons and they have been over tackling me and wrestling with their cousins the last few days. We have missed them and are so glad to have them home.
Scott and Annie are taking us up the canyon this week for a cook out with their two children. Scott is an outdoors kinda guy and also served as a scoutmaster for the troop in his ward. Scott is the CFO for his company and is very hardworking and creative.
All the best to you my friends. Remember, whatever your ambitions are in life, you can be what you want to become if you become what you want to be! Make sure you think about the big picture of life and remember that those choices you make will affect your destiny.
One of my favorite scriptures:
“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure dheart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.” Ps. 24: 3-4
How did I miss this post?! I’m glad I found it. So wonderful to hear about your family and to share in your joy of their successes and happiness. I keep checking Tyler’s tour dates but so far nothing close to me. If they ever come down to Texas I’ll be there and I’ll make sure to tell him that his dad loves him. So do we. Even though I don’t know him I want to be there for him (It’s the mom in me I guess).
Thanks for posting Alan.
Tyler is home with us today. He and his band are going to be traveling for a couple of months and are recording a new album. Thank you for your desire to support him. It makes a Father happy to know that besides his Mother, Brothers and me, he is loved. Alan
So fun to read an update! I’m thrilled to see you’re involved in so many different things. Desert Noises was here recently, but I didn’t get a chance to go because they played on a work night and didn’t start until 10 pm – I must be getting old! Hopefuly next time! Hoping to get to Vegas next month to see your brothers. Sure wish you would “show up!” Thanks for all you do!
It was wonderful to read about your family. I love seeing recent photos of everyone. Congrats to Alex and Jessica on the upcoming wedding.
Dear Alan & Suzanne,
I just wanted to let you know that my husband, family and I had the extreme honor and pleasure of hosting Desert Noises on their recent tour, and will do so again. For the last 5 or 6 years, we’ve had numerous bands and hundreds of artists stay with us as a stop on their sometimes weary road, but without a doubt Tyler, Kyle, Pat & Tim were some of the most sincere, kindest, generous, warm and helpful friends we’ve been blessed to know. Love surrounds them and radiates from them wherever they go, and it is obvious they were raised well. They were and are an inspiration to many. We look forward to their return.
Thank youi for all of your kindness towards my son Tyler and his friends in the band. The “Road” can be hard and lonely sometimes. As a father, I am grateful for your hospitality and friendship!
Alan
Wow, Alan! What a wonderful update. All I kept thinking – especially seeing Alex’s pictures – was “Where did the years go?” He was still a kid when I was hanging out with all of you. I can’t imagine how they all grew up so fast.
I’m glad to hear you are writing more music. You are the best songwriter!
Love and miss you, my friend.
Linda
